InactiveHi
Have just bought the FVP-4000T.
Setup was easy, but when I check my external media it has found my 5 Sonos speakers & my external drive that is used for backup, but not the external drive where my media files are stored.
Is there any way of
1. Deleting the unwanted media items?
2. Attaching the external drive that I do want?

ParticipantHi welcome to our forum. To what is the drive you want to serve the files from connected to ?
A remote PC.
A usb port on the box.
Another networked device.

InactiveHi
I have 2 external drives, both WD MyBookWorld. One is my backup drive, which it recognises, and the other with my media files on, which it didn’t pickup.

Hi

What are these drives connected to (as I asked in my post).

InactiveSorry misunderstood your question. The 2 devices are connected to a netgear router which is then connected via a home LAN to an iMac, 2 Apple TVs & the FVP-4000T. Connected via wifi is a windows laptop, Sonos speakers & various phones/tablets.
Windows 10
OS X
IOS 9
Hope I’ve covered everything you need to know.

InactiveIt sound like you have two networks.
What is the IP address and subnet mask of the FVP-4000T and the external drive you want to connect to?

InactiveI’m loath to give out my external ip, if you need it PM me. ISP is Virgin Media. One of the reasons for getting the Humax box was so I can cut out the TiVo box.
Internal ip for the FVP-4000T is 10.0.0.36 , for the external drive I want to connect is 10.0.0.3 , subnet is 255.255.255.0 , gateway address & primary DNS is 10.0.0.1 ,secondary DNS 0.0.0.0

InactiveNo need for an external IP. Your statement “netgear router which is then connected via a home LAN” implied another LAN in addition to the router. I now assume that the Netgear router provides the LAN (together with the DHCP service).
Question can the Windows laptop see the media via Explorer and Windows Media Player?
The WD MyBookWorld is not a current model and the legacy links don’t work on WD’s site – is it accessed via a windows network share?

InactiveI can find the media files with explorer but not with WMP. Can’t seem to attach the device/ folders to ‘other libraries’. Can play my videos with film & TV app or I can open it with WMP, but says it can’t share as on another computer. Whatever I’ve tried I can’t get the folder to share.

InactiveSimple solution transfer required media to connected drive, and all working.
At some point I must update the MyBookWorlds.

Did you try after mapping the share as a connected network drive?

InactiveYes the drive is mapped and files readable by Apple TV etc.
What appears to be the problem is that Twonky Media Server is only on my backup drive and not on the other drive. Not sure what happened to it and haven’t figured out how to reinstate it.

InactiveDid a search on the Internet and found how to reinstate Twonky Media Server. Now all up and running.
