I’m generally happy with my DTR 2000 except for its automatic checking of updates that have woken me at 3 am on several nights. Is there anyway to disable this feature or at least change the time that this takes place ?

Disconnect it from the router overnight? Updates are few and far between.

My guess would be that it will still wakeup.

Move the box to another room? Or put an acoustic hood over it at night (used to use those with old style dot matrix printers)? Or use a timer on the power plug to turn it off completely overnight?

Yes, maybe. In which case turn it off completely as Gomez suggests.

Is it the HDD itself making too much noise or is it vibration from the HDD being transmitted to the stand? If the latter you could try something like these

JamesB -I’ll disconnect it from the router and see what happens tonight. The user guide does say that updates occur when connected to the internet – so fingers crossed that sorts it out. I previously had a 9300 and there was an option to update manually or reschedule automatic updates but I can’t find similar on this machine.

GomezLike the idea of a timer to turn the machine off – I would prefer an on off switch on the machine. Will also look into those pads .

    Many thanks

You could try some odd bits of foam / rubber / polysterene before paying out.

It would be up to YouView, not Humax, to allow the automatic connection to be turned off or rescheduled. The YouView partners would no doubt prefer the box to be on and connected 24/7.

You can do a manual check – there’s an option for that in Settings.

Earlier models had an on/off switch on the back, but I think I’ve read that it’s been removed from the new models.
