Adding to my previous post i have used my computer upstairs

connected to the upstairs tv using windows media player which

worked quite good. I tried also samsung allshare which would

let me copy files and then play but not stream, but as i asked

i want something smaller than a computer.

Why no offer of advice to help me with my problem of watching my

Humax hrd 2000[downstairs] on my non internet tv [upstairs].

I have internet available upstairs in the bedroom and have streamed

from the humax downstairs to my computer upstairs quite ok,

but i do not want to use my computer.

I want to buy a device which will pick up the signal from the Humax

which i can connect to my bedroom tv, such as a now tv or roku adaptor.

I dont know if these devices would do the job or is there something

better, other than another computer.Sorry if i have not explained

my problem very well and sorry for the duplicate post

A tablet or smart phone with a hdmi out or other means of connecting to a TV will do what you want to do.

Other than that a networked media server like the WD TV LIVE should also work.

How geeky are you prepared to be?

You could get a RaspberryPi running XBMC (Raspbmc), which will stream the DLNA/UPnP content from your Humax.

I’ve just set mine up and it works up to a point, however I would need to get an additional codec file to get the SD video to stream (only getting audio at the moment)

Lots of information on this thread…

RasperryPi – XBMC thread : post 108 on page 6 details the required codecs, post 51 on page 3 has some comprehensive setup details.

You might be able to pick up a second hand HD-FOX T2 on eBay quite reasonably. As the software version is quite old, iPlayer is not working, but it is supposed to be getting an update. It is a good DLNA client, has HDMI output (1080p) and if you plug in a USB hard drive you can use it as a single tuner PVR. The software is very similar to the HDR-2000T so you will find it easy to use.
