Hi again all,
I’m yet again going to have to reset I think. My ambient Google photos have stopped showing again. And I cannot cast YT any longer.
And I’ve only just noticed there’s two reset options. But I think they are the danger thing?
Freeview Play Preference > Factory Reset
and
Device Preference > Reset
Both end up on the same confirmation screen:
This will erase all data from your device’s internal storage, including: your Google Account, system and app data and settings and downloaded apps.
Most people have reported that a Factory Reset does not delete your recordings.
Judging by my experience the Device Preference/Reset also doesn’t delete your recordings – it removes normal access to them and you can’t see them. The only way you know they’re there is that you have unexplained storage usage. You then have to use devious means to copy or watch them. You can’t delete them (you don’t have the required access). You’d have to format the disk to get rid of the old files.
There’s a good chance that both resets will remove account and app data – otherwise what’s the point?
