Ok–for anyone attempting to link a Humax Freesat Freetime box and foxed by compatibility conflicts–here is THE SOLUTION. After having linked up with HDMI cables-with both devices switched OFF-then switch on

Go to HDMI-1 on the Sony and make absolutely sure you have SYNCH disabled. Set other preferences according to need.

WARNING-If you try and run a Humax with synch enabled-all sorts of funnies occur-too boring to mention. The Sony is a great TV with great picture and acceptable sound–AND the addition of a fully operational Humax box makes it a winner!
