I have a Humax FVP 5000T and would like to connect it to my HIFI, if possible, so I can have a better quality sound than listening through the TV speakers. I notice on the rear of the case are three RCA sockets, 2 of which are labelled audio L & R. I’m a bit wary of plugging into them to feed into my stereo amplifier as I’m not really sure about it. There is an input on the HIFI amp which I used to use with a DVD player recorder and obviously would like to do the same with my Humax.

Can anyone who is knowledgable about these things please help or even suggest/recommend how I can do this.

Please could you tell us which make and model of HiFi you have?

If it worked with your DVD it will work with the Humax.

I can’t get at my FVP-5000T at the moment. But from memory there is a menu setting you have to change to keep the analogue outputs on all the time otherwise it defaults to hdmi audio only.

The amplifier is an Arcam Alpha 6 and it has a video input which I used to plug the audio from the DVD player into.

Any pair of Red/White sockets should be fine. These might typically be labelled CD.

Pres the FVP-Button. Move to settings (the cog) and press OK. Prees OK on general settings. Press OK on Audio. Change both S/Pdif and HDMI to Stereo

    From the user manual

The CD and VIDEO inputs may also be used as

general purpose inputs for sources with a

suitable line level output – e.g. a second tape

    recorder.
