I’m on the winter hill transmitter, am having trouble with channels on com7 55 & com4 29,picture pixelates or no signal usually when I record Quest in the evening or early morning.

I’ve performed a factory reset, manual tune to the mux’s listed, but signal strength on the this mux is 50% at best whilst others are 75% plus (initially when I manually tuned the fvp5000t didn’t pick any channels up on 29 or 55). Reception checker says we’re in a Good reception area for all.

I get zero channels on 55 & poor strength on 29

Now,could this be 4g/5g interference, & or could it be the old aerial causing a problem (aerial is the original from when we moved in 16yrs ago so who knows how old it is)

    Thanks for any advice!

With the aerial being 16 years old, personaly I would start with getting the aerial and cabling checked to make sure its working 100%.

Replacement is probably on the cards.

The fact that 29 is the lowest frequency transmitted by Winter Hill and 55 is the highest does suggest that the problem might be that your aerial isn’t wide band.

Thanks for the replies, I’ve been reading up on winter hill, frequencies, and aerial types all evening & it does sound like I need a new aerial – a yagi 18k aerial sounds right/recommended that will receive com7 & should sort the lower frequency.

I’ll check what aerial I have tommorow when it’s light, but I did look at the neighbours opposite & looked like a yagi type aerial.

Pic of my current aerial, looks abit bent in places & the bar towards the bottom of the mast is the remains of an FM aerial I believe, time for a new one!

Just an update, I found a superb website / shop as below & went with a yagi10k wideband aerial, I now have full coverage & excellent signal strength, result

    null
