I’m trying to do a channel search but am only given the option of signal test. Everything else is greyed out. Why is this?

I’m trying to do a channel search but am only given the option of signal test. Everything else is greyed out. Why is this?
Most likely reason is box is recording or about to record and looking for the broadcaster signal to start recording.
