    I have a Humax Foxsat-hdr and a usb2 250GB portable drive which I have formatted to FAT32 using the Ridgecap Consultants FAT32 formatting program. When I use Windows7-64 bit to look at the properties of this drive, it shows the format as FAT32. I can write files to this drive, play them and delete them.

    When I connect the drive to my foxsathdr it does not recognise the formatting. Humax Support suggested I try again. I went to W7 Disk Manager then deleted and renamed the volume then reformatted to FAT32. It didn’t help.

    I have used FAT32 formatted memory sticks successfully on the PVR.

    Any suggestions as to how to get the drive recognised?

    Can you not get a format option when its connected to the Humax and format it there ?

    The Foxsat-hdr can’t format external drives.

    Possible alternative format EXT3 and use EXT2FS to use the drive with a PC.

    You can create a linux boot disc for your PC.

    Or you can format it in windows using the free Home version of Easeus Partition Manager.

    I am told that the hdr will now work with EXT2 drives. At the time of launch only EXT3 worked.

    Can anyone confirm.

    I’ve been avoiding trying this because I’m not keen on messing up my laptop with Linux and I don’t like the look of the warnings on the second link.

    You can’t mess up your laptop with a Linux boot disc it makes no changes to your hard disc at all. If you feel happier with this then use this approach. As for the warnings it’s the usual thing. Never seen any problems with any one using this software.
