InactiveI thought that I’d recorded something last night (by pressing the red record button on the remote). This morning, the recording won’t play (I cannot delete any recording either this morning).
I’m getting a screen mesaage in a grey box as follows (accompanied by the usual swirling icon that denotes an action in progress):
“CANNOT PLAYBACK WHILST RECOVERING DATA FOR DELAYED RECORDING”
Any ideas anyone?

I don’t recollect seeing that message reported before. I wonder if the root problem is related to the background delete problem. The easiest way to fix that problem is to install the custom firmware and use fix-disk. Perhaps see if someone else has a better idea.

InactiveThanks. Hate to be dense but what is meant by “the custom firmware and use fix-disk”?

InactiveAnother point:
I just tried making another recording and got a screen message that there was only [30 seconds space left for recording – sorry, I didn’t see it all but I think it was 30 secoinds].
The disk shows 60 GB.

InactiveThanks for the Wiki link.
I’m really short on time right now and cannot realistically deal with this.
Does anyone have a service provider who can take care of this for me and that they’d recommend?

InactiveWhat Service did you have in mind?

ModeratorAs Martin has stated, cannot remember anyone posting such a problem before.
1. You could try a factory reset if that menu option is available, I suspect it might not be.
2. You could try installing version 1.01.09 software (pre background delete) to regain control of delete, and if successful upload latest version, again I am not convinced it will work but worth a try.

Is the box still under warranty (two years)? If so get Humax to sort it out for you.

You’re right: it doesn’t work. I’d already gone back to 1.01.09 to deal with a previous issue with delete loop – it did deal with that but gave the problems set out in this chain. I didn’t then restore to 028 but have since done so. Guess what – the delete loop problem is back. Going forward to 029 makes no difference.
I’ve also had “antenna short circuited” as an intermittent screen message for some weeks. No effect on reception and it goes away as soon as the Humax is disconnected.
Guarantee. Terrific – missed the 2 years by a week.

InactiveThere are some fixes for continuous deleting HERE, Fix 2 is the one you have already tried unsuccessfully, however the other fix requires the installation of Custom Firmware and access via Telnet
