Hi….my Humax is an HDR Fox T2 model and i'm having problems off-loading files from the hard drive to a flash drive via the USB port.
The flash drive i'm using is a Sandisk 16gb formatted in FAT32.
When i go through the pvr menu to "move/copy" it displays that it is copying to the flash drive, but when i plug that in my computer and open it, it's displaying nothing despite showing almost 2gb has been used!
The program files i'm trying to off-load are still 'safe' on my pvr but attempts to copy them over have so far proved unsuccessful.
Am i doing something wrong? I could do with some help please!!

Are the files SD?
can you copy one file on to the flash drive, wait for it to finish copying and then play it back on the hdrfoxT2 first to check that it is actually on the flash drive before checking on the PC
Files are all in SD yes. I will look to see if they play back on the T2.

OK i’ve just tried another programme….at just 17 mins long it was very small but as you rightly say it is slow, much slower than the Humax Freesat model.
It copied to the flash drive and yes, it played back (on tv set) from the flash drive, so the file is there. BUT when plugged to the pc i still get the same on opening…”this folder is empty”.
I forgot to mention i’m running windows 8.1 but can’t see that makes any difference.

I don’t know what is going wrong; it does work for me.
Well i’m stuck here as i can’t figure what’s wrong either. The only thing i can think of is trying a different make of flash drive though it’s a long shot. Humax are far from helpful. I phoned them yesterday and was met with quite an abrupt discourteous response.
it won’t be win8.1 and I don’t think a different flash drive will make any difference.
I’ve not seen a “this folder is empty” message
Are you sure you are using windows file explorer to look at the flash drive?
I could only imagine a “this folder is empty” message if you are using windows media player or some other player/application which won’t recognise the humax file extensions such as anyprogramme.ts and it therefore reports the folder as empty
I've uploaded a couple of screenshots so you can see what i get.
First shows the flash drive indicated as "Removable Disk J" when i right click on that to "open"…i then get the second screenshot.

What happens if you just left click on it?
wierd, just shows me how much notice I take of file explorer with the empty folder message.
it looks like 500MB has been taken up with something which could easily be the 17min file.
Also try opening a dos window CMD
change to the flash drive by typing
j:
and type ‘dir’ and also ‘attrib’ (without the comments), there has to be something there

What happens if you just left click on it?
A single left click = nothing. Double left click opens “folder empty” as shown in that second screenshot.

Simply plug flash drive into USB, select prog to move, press ok and it shows it loading. Unlike the Fox T2 that model moves files off the pvr drive to the flash drive. Stick the flash drive in pc, click open, and there are all the files ready to transfer to a folder on the pc.

it’s a while since I’ve used attrib, I was sure attrib would bring back everything.
once you’re back in a DOS window and on j: drive try
dir /a
this is what I get with dir, attrib and dir /a
from a flash drive mounted as H:

by right clicking on j: in windows file explorer and selecting properties you should be able to compare used/free space against what DOS shows. If you do find a folder in the DOS window like I have one named ‘test’ cd into it, i.e.
cd test
replacing ‘test’ with the name of the folder you have and then do another dir, attrib, dir /a
If you still can’t find anything, use disk management, somewhere around … control panel, system & security, create and format hard disk partitions
and double check that there is just one partition on the flash drive.
thinking aloud here… Sandisk did do something really stupid with something called U3 on their flashdrives a few years ago, almost as infuriating as the HDCP we all have to suffer with. In this case, if there are more partitions/volumes on the flash drive delete them and reformat the flash drive as one single volume.
Contrary to what I said earlier, if U3 is on the sandisk and causing problems and you haven’t been able to get rid of it then use a different make of flash drive.
Also it’d be far easier to activate ftp in the humax menu and copy the files over the network to your PC assuming it’s connected (probably around 10x faster).
Lastly, at some point when you have time, put custom firmware on the HdrFoxT2, it’ll breathe new life into it.

But without the custom firmware the files will still be encrypted.
