what is the best transcoding settings to have set?
That probably depends upon the size of screen, the content being watched, and your home wifi network. On the assumption that higher is better, I have the transcoding bitrate at 5Mbps and the transcoding frame rate at 50Hz. For the resolution 960×540 seems to be the best for 16:9 content. Note that with the 5Mbps bitrate there is audio distortion if you watch content on the app, but not with VLC.
