ParticipantIt’s a part time channel so make sure it’s actually on air when you tune the box.

BBC 4 HD is carried on the COM7 multiplex which is broadcast at lower power than the multiplex that carries the most commonly used HD channels. Try going to the Freeview Checker at https://www.freeview.co.uk/corporate/platform-management and see what it says about the signal strength a your location. Also the multiplex is broadcast on channel 55 which means that if you don’t have a wide band aerial that could be the problem.

Really? There are other channels broadcast on the same multiplex.

InactiveBut will the tuning allocate an LCN to BBC4 HD when it is not broadcasting?

InactiveShould do. I do not get COM7, but if I retune PSB1 it lists BBC4 (SD) as well as the relevant children’s BBC channel (forget if it pairs with CBBC or CBeebies), one of which is off-air at any given moment.

Perhaps the first question should possibly have been: “Could you ‘get’ BBC4 HD before your retune”.

I don’t know because I can’t receive BBC 4 HD as my local transmitter doesn’t provide the COM7 mux. I would guess the placeholder text you get on the SD version is sufficient to get a slot as it has never been missing when retuning when BBC 4 is not broadcasting.

InactiveI haven’t retuned in the evening for a very long time.
I can assure you that a daytime retune will definitely find and allocate BBC4HD to its correct slot.

InactiveDon’t forget BBC4 HD moved from COM8 to COM7 on the 22 June

InactiveBBC4 HD and CBeebies HD are essentialy the same channel. Certainly for SD during the day I can turn to BBC4 and get CBeebies for a while before the Humax realises and puts up the BBC4 slate.
If you do a retune when the channel is off-air the LCNs are allocated.
Bob could try a manual tune of UHF 55 (set DVB-T2) and see if there is sufficient signal strength/quality.

InactiveI took Graham advice and re-tuned in the evening and found the channel.
Thank you all for your help and advice.
