This may be more of a TV problem than a Humax query but:-
I have the Humax set up with a 6 year old Sony TV, model KDLV40A12U, connected with a HDMI lead.
But on switch on the TV does not automatically go to the HD channel, I have to manually do this.
Is there any way of getting this to occur automatically?
Have thought of connecting the Humax to the TV with a SCART as well as the HD lead to see if this worked, but would this damage the box or lose on picture quality?
Automatic selection of HDMI inputs requires a system called CEC on both the TV and the connected kit. THe Humax doesn’t have CEC.
If you connect by scart pin 8 auto select will select the scart socket but you will only get pictures in SD (HD channels are downscaled to 576i – 720 x 576). You won’t do any damage, in fact you may get a slightly better picture when viewing SD channels provided you use a scart socket with RGB support.
A Harmony remote will select the correct input on the TV as part of a watch Humax activity.
