InactiveI’ve been trying to set a static ip address on my Aura. And surprise, it doesn’t seem to work properly. I get the message there’s no internet. If I switch back to DHCP it works again.
I’m trying to set the primary DNS to be my pi-hole. I have many other devices set this way. And I can see some requests coming from the static ip I’ve set. The requests are allowed. But none of the apps work. And I don’t see any blocked requests.
Yet another problem with the Aura.
During the set up it asks for network length. Odd. But leave it at 24, which should be fine for home subnet. Also tried 8 but didn’t seem to make a difference. I also tried static ip with the usual public DNS. But it gives the same behaviour.
So resigned to DHCP only then. Thanks again Humax.
Yes I might try using the pihole for DHCP service but that’s for another time…

InactiveOh it does report connected to my WiFi, but no internet access. Until I go back to DHCP.

InactiveTo get through to the internet you need to supply the correct gateway address of your router or similar.
Can you check what values DHCP gives your Aura – or other devices – for the gateway and use that.
I suspect a network length prefix of 16 (rather than 8 ) is adequate depending on your setup.

ParticipantI have been using static IP on my Aura for several years without any problems.

InactiveI use static IP for the wired connection and the correct gateway is required. I haven’t tried a static IP on WiFi but I would assume the gateway is also required. Slightly confused as post #2 refers to WiFi. Is the connection to the Aura wired or WiFi?

InactiveThanks all. Gives me hope still.
It’s the WiFi connection. I’m trying to set the static ip on the WiFi connection. Anyone got static working on the WiFi connection then?
Gateways correct. IP address I give is outside the DHCP managed range. The default bitmask length of 24 is sufficient for the 255 addresses in my home range. I only set to 8 as I was clutching at straws.
Here’s what I tried
IP: 192.168.0.12
Gateway: 192.168.0.1
Network length: 24
DNS 1: 192.168.0.35
DNS 2: 1.1.1.1
I could see a few requests in the pihole but then nothing more. The aura shows no internet connection. Odd.
Anything I missed?

I try to minimise the use of WiFi so I haven’t tried to use it on the Aura.

Looks sensible to me. There have been some reports of odd behaviour with the Aura and a pihole. Could you temporarily remove the pihole and see if the Aura WiFi works?

InactiveI just tried using a mobile phone WiFi hotspot. I can set another phone to use the hotspot with a static IP and it works. I can set the Aura to use a static address – but it doesn’t connect to the internet! They are all Android devices.
Could be a Humax “feature”! (bug).

InactiveScrub previous I tried a second time and it appears to work.
So the answer to the thread question is YES!

InactiveOk it’s working for me now. Static ip over WiFi using my local pi hole for DNS. It may have been down to some fiddly UI. So I’ve set both DNS entries to my pi-hole. When I set these ips, i wait for it to show the success message and then wait for it to to then leave that message screen. I think if Im impatient and click back while the success message is showing it loses the settings

InactiveI just reserve the address via the router to achieve a static local IP address rather than force the config on the device itself. Let the device think it’s using DHCP but just gets the same IP address assigned each time.
