I am considering purchasing a 4K tv, feeding the signal from my 1100S. I realise that the signal from my humax will be in 1080i and not 4k standard, but I have been advised that 4K is 1080p upscaled by the tv. If so, using standard hdmi cables, would I get 1) no picture, or 2) pure 1080p picture, or 3)an improved picture over 1080p, although not true 4k. Any one any thoughts.

I think that your HB-1100S can be set to output 1080p, which it does very well. Try this also.

I feed my HDR1000S, output 1080P, into a 4K Samsung. Picture is stunning.

Thanks Pollensa, sounds encouraging, I understand that 4k needs a large screen to be at its best, although the screen size I am considering is 43inch, I would be obliged if you could post your Samsung screen size, and with regard to recording, does your HDR1000S handle recording from TV normaly, leaving the upscaling to the TV.

I changed from a 42″ Panasonic to a 49″ Samsung, constrained by the space available to accommodate it. No regrets. The HDR of course records at the resolution of the broadcast and since the output is set to 1080P the assumption is that it upscales to that resolution and the TV in turn upscales to 4K. Never tried the HDR at any other output resolution with this TV as the picture is stunningly good. Particularly where the original material is HD, but still very good when SD.
