InactiveHi all,
I am upgrading my HD TV to a 4K TV. Can I use the 1100S as a USB HDD if I connect it to the TV’s USB port for recording purposes?
The reasons for asking are a) The new TV will have more apps
b) I assume the upscaling will be better through the TV rather than through the 1100S
box.
Any thoughts and/or advice would be appreciated.

I am unsure if you posted in the correct forum. The HB-1100S does not have a hard-disk and any attached is external, so connecting a TV to the 1100S would not achieve much. I have no idea if connecting the same external drive would be compatable. If you have a HDR-1100S I would think this is not possible= but no one I think has tried.

InactiveHi Repassac,
Thank you for your reply.
My apologies, another senior moment. It is an HDR-1100S that I have.

Then I would suspect it is not possible, but you would be the first to try, file systems could be different as well as USB connection and device support.

ParticipantKeep the 1100S. I have a 4K 55″ LG c9 and HDR-1000S
The picture quality on it is good provided you stick to HD channels. The recording capability of the twin tuner box is way superior to what you will get from any TV.
If you want to to view 4K content treat yourself to a £30:00 ish Amazon 4K firestick.
It will give you 4K content from Youtube. iplayer and Amazon prime.

InactiveHi Graham, Thanks for your reply. What are the SD channels like through the Humax HDR 1100s on your 4k tv?

Depends on how close you get to the TV. As you get closer the picture artefacts become more obvious.

InactiveThanks, Graham. Wonder whether the new 4K HDR box will do an any better job, but can’t find any in depth reviews yet. Probably too newer a device.

Loads of bugs reported on AV forums. Picture is reported as being excellent though.
