InactiveHey Guys,
My Humax 1010s has died with what I assume is a dead hard disk (system starts up, claims device is unformatted then freezes instead of formatting it) It looks like I can get a compatable disk drive for £75 or a whole new box (1100S) for about £100 more, what extra do I get for upgrading?

Are you sure this is not the known issue where the Humax doesn’t recognise the hard drive? If it is that issue Humax will repair the box for £26. Try talking to Humax support on the phone.

Hot off the press.
That offer has been replaced now.
Rather then repair, Humax now offer exchange units. For out of warranty customers the charge for this service is £55.00

InactiveThanks Barry. On balance, I think I’d rather have paid 26 quid and kept my recordings!
(But I’d better not seem too ungrateful!)

In my own case that indicated the disk had failed. Replacing it fixed the problem.

My hard disk also failed after about 4yrs. Symptoms though were different, box refused to boot. After disconnecting drive, unit booted OK.
