I am hoping someone can help. My mother has just bought a Humax FVP-5000T and today a message has appeared on the screen saying Software Update. Nothing is updating. I have tried the usual unplugging the device leaving it for 20 minutes then plugging back in again, but nothing is working. My mother is in her eighties and does not have an Internet connection. Can anyone suggest what to do. Thanks
If she has no internet connection, the box will struggle.
If you can, you may have to provide a “Personal Hotspot” (in iPhone terminology) to give the box temporary internet access from your phone while you update (I imagine Android phones have something similar).
Of course, once you are gone, she will not be able to use any catch-up facilities which depend upon an internet connection.
