Inactivewe have sold 2 of these units and both customers were complaining about missed recordings and series link not working,a software download seems to have cured these problems, but 1 of the cutomers is now checking every function and is now complaining that the ff and rew speed only reaches x32 when in the instruction book it says it should reach x64,and his other gripe is that you cannot play back in slow motion by keeping your finger on the play button even though it says you can in the instructions, any thoughts anybody.
regards
David

InactiveYes – Both functions are not implemented – freesat have said they are not possible and the manual will be corrected.
I presume the chipset does not support them.
Very petty.

InactiveThe customer is petty because he bought a box which doesn’t do things which the manual says it should ?

The petty bit is who wants x64 fast forward it’s near unusable, which is probably why it was dropped. Actually measuring it is shall we say somewhat eccentric

The two item have never been part of the units advertisements.

If we only took note of what’s said in the advert it’d appear to be a very expensive pvr with catchup.
Mine goes at the weekend and alternative already working so doesn’t really matter what Humax do.

Inactivedec – Out of interest what did you get?
March 15, 2013 at 11:17 am #42930Anonymous
InactiveLong term I’m not sure what to do. Possibly add a twin lnb tuner to the mini pc which sits under the TV. Or maybe get one of the cheap linux based boxes. Thay way I can still have full epg and series link stuff but also have web access for catchup type stuff.
Until then I’m using patched Sky box.

InactiveHi dec, how do you patch a sky box, mine was all but useless other than watching live tv once my contract expired (no new recordings/can’t view saved recordings/no live pause) is it possible to restore some sort of usability to Sky boxes?
Also Sky want to stiff you to watch freesat channels with a freesat viewing card, the reason I left them in the first place was to save the ongoing costs.
Our old Sky box is now just gathering dust.

InactiveSorry, now I’ve got rid of the Humax I don’t read the forum very often.
Probably way off topic for this forum but search for “sky+ pace patch” but note that this only works for certain Pace Sky+ standard def boxes. Be prepared for soldering and lots of playing.
HD boxes are much harder to get your own code into and as far as I know there isn’t anything publicly released. The code in the box can be reversed and patched though – definitely one for us techies.

InactiveBlast – thanks dec – mine’s an Amstrad, though even that worked better than the 1000S has so far.
I thought Amstrad set the lowest watermark that everyone else jumps over, however Humax have proven me wrong with this.

InactiveOut of interest, Nesbitt, have you done a factory reset since the OTA update earlier this month?
March 23, 2013 at 7:36 pm #42935Anonymous
InactiveNope, I’ve not done any resets since I first had the box in November, I have done the occasional (twice) hard disk clean up, but other than that I’ve left the box pretty much in the hands of FreeTime, I didn’t use the interim software to fix recording issues, it went straight from the OTA update 16 in december to the OTA update 37 earlier this month. As it did everything I asked of it (albeit unreliably) I didn’t see the need for a reset as I have nearly 50 items listed in my planned recording schedule and I don’t want to have to enter thal all again without reasonable justification.
