ParticipantYou would do better with a NAS which can store all your movies etc and access them from either laptop or HDR

ParticipantThat ‘ticking’ could be indicative of a failed hard drive. If you feel confident enough, disconnect from the mains, open the lid and unplug the 2 cables to the drive and try to power up with the drive disconnected. If you get a picture then the hard drive is faulty.

ParticipantHi and welcome to the forum.

Picasa is a google service so you would need to upload the photos to there (http://picasa.google.co.uk/) first before they would be available to view through the portal.
Do you have the HDR or HD box as you’ve posted in the HD forum?
aldaweb
ParticipantDo you have any other recordings set that would overlap?
I assume this is the HD with external HDD and not the HDR.

ParticipantHi and welcome to the forum

This problem is exacerbated if the unit is left powered on (not in standby) all the time. It is recommended that if you are not manually putting the unit into standby then you should set the automatic switch on and off times to something convenient e.g. overnight. If this doesn’t apply in your case then consider it as advice for other readers who may be suffering a similar problem.
If your feel competent enough you can remove the drive and connect to a computer in order to backup your recordings using humaxrw in recovery mode (available from the blog here – link). The usual disclaimer and caveats apply.

ParticipantHi Bob and welcome to the forum

As a format hasn’t worked then I would first try a default reset followed by another format. Then if you still cannot record you will need to contact Humax to get a warranty exchange or repair (assuming it was not a ‘graded’ unit which only has 12 months warranty instead of 2 years)

This can also be caused if the drive is getting corruption.
Yes a corrupt file system may cause recordings to disappear. But the OP is saying the series has vanished from the schedule which I don’t think has anything to do with file system problems, does it?
Your’e right, I mis-read schedule for list, but at least it applied to trainman.

ParticipantThis can also be caused if the drive is getting corruption. If this is the case the recording is made but not visible by the Humax but can be viewed and extracted by direct connection of the drive to a PC using humaxrw (available from the download section – link).
This does involve opening the 9200t and either removing the drive or otherwise connecting to a PC. Read carefully the caveats before attempting this.
Alternatively watch or transfer off all the recordings you want and format the drive.

ParticipantI have a USB enclosure for a 2.5″ drive that has a 5v socket on it that can be used in case there is insufficient power from the USB port, also an Iomega portable drive which has a similar power port. The power input is similar to the older Nokia phone power supplies.
May be worth a try.

Dear Sirs,
I am giving the organisation the benefit of doubt and sorry to have to report more issues, if it remains faulty within 3 weeks from now I will be taking the box back for a full refund and look at other platforms.
I am giving the benefit to Humax and freesat to explain or sort out before I make my mind up and take the box back to the store for full refund.
I hope someone bothers to respond as to what is going on.
Kind Regards
I trust the OP realises this is a user forum and not a feedback channel for either Humax nor Freesat.
If he requires a response from either he should contact them directly.
Feel free to post with any problems which can be solved with the vast experience on hand though.

ParticipantI would agree with Biggles here particularly as your 803 (4 Seven) should be – as the name suggests – channel 47 so is probably a repeat that you’ve overlooked.

ParticipantAlso remember that the updates are broadcast on the HD mux so if you have previously not been able to receive it you would have had to update using a USB stick.
The update is not scheduled this week or next (see http://www.dtg.org.uk/industry/download_schedule.php) so you may wish to follow the USB route anyway.

ParticipantHi Jan
Please remember that this is a ‘user forum’ not a manufacturer’s support forum. The people who frequent here do so out of a desire to help others on a purely voluntary basis. There are a lot of knowledgeable people across a wide spectrum of expertise.
The reason Martin is asking for your software version and system ID is that there have been changes to the broadcast system which have caused problems that have been addressed and rectified with software updates, but some units had a corrupted System ID which prevented the update of the software.

ParticipantFirst, can you tell us how the aerial is feed to the two 9300ts.
ie do you have a distribution amp or splitter or are they fed from separate aerials? Is the coax fully screened (braid and foil).
What sort of signal/quality level do you get on the MUX that was breaking up? Is it OK when watching live?
Have you tried swapping the boxes over?

ParticipantIt’s worth checking the backup given that you will probably be transferring all the files from your daughter’s machine.
I think you still get the warning at the start but not for each file.
You will probably recognise a few more names from the old place.
