    Welcome to our Forum :-)

See This Thread for a lot of info, however to recover your unit you could try:

http://myhumax.org/forum/topic/software-update-stuck-on-50/page/4#post-36444 and then try updating via usb.

Edit: Graham beat me to it again.

Yes but the next episodes are on CITV at 08:00 in the morning and that’s not even an HD channel. I think ITV have missed a trick.

Next episode on Sat 11 Apr 0800 ITV HD according to my planned recordings, and EPG.

A reset will not delete recordings, and does not affect software version.

It will delete scheduled timers and reset any other user settings you may have altered. A retune is part of the rest procedure.

    1. If users had not interrupted the update process it almost certainly would have completed, probably on the 3rd pass of updating as proved on 3 consecutive mornings by me – and btw Humax also confirmed this test.

    2. Users can easily recover a ‘stuck’ unit again as proved by me – details in this thread, Humax support have the details.

    3. If users are not confident enough to try any of the fixes then I believe Humax are exchanging units at considerable costs to them.

I am now closing this temporarily, as the thread contains all the info users need to recover/fix a stuck unit. It will be reopened when the next OTA is broadcast, currently planned to commence on 6 April

It was meant to be neither, just pointing out the facts.

Be mindful I am not going to allow this to degenerate into a Humax bashing thread, posts will be removed and the thread closed until the next OTA date if that happens.

If the problem re-emerges you might want to consider a factory reset, see if that helps.

Welcome to our Forum Ludwig :-)

Whilst your frustration is understandable especially if you are not technically capable that is not a reason for Humax to withdraw a perfectly usable item from sale. Indeed in your case the unit could have been recovered to a usable condition in a few seconds.

As has been pointed out in this thread there are many simple solutions to overcome the problems encountered.

Welcome to our Forum Charlies :-)

Could you connect the unit via scart as a temporary measure?

    edit: snap :D

    Confusion even worse!

Chan 809 ident TJC but EPG data for The Store

Chan 815 ident back to The Jewellery Channel, but is actually broadcasting The Store?, EPG data The jewellery Channel.

What on earth are freesat playing at.

Chan 809 now appears to be The Jewellery Channel, which is also still broadcasting on Chan 815, although that channel ident is now The Store?

    Welcome to our Forum :-)

I don’t know where you have read about updating but it is incorrect, and to be 100% sure I am currently downloading via OTA the update to a unit with only one input.

In any case a factory default will not revert software to an earlier version. It does reset any user settings you may have altered and deletes the timers list so you will have to re-schedule them.

Of course there is also the IP and usb options for updating software as well.

Edit: Graham typed faster them me :D

Granted it should not have happened, but as usual it is being blown out of all proportion in some quarters.

I for one do not think any boxes have been ‘bricked’ they are easily recoverable to a working condition in minutes as has been proved by me and others in this very thread.

Indeed I think if users had not interrupted the update process, units would have successfully updated in time, again as proved by me on 3 occasions. I do appreciate however the inconvenience if the unit is primary source of viewing TV.

    2. Humax Towers, and therefore the support cell have been kept fully up to date with findings.

I am wondering why a cold reset (i.e. power off for 10 secs then back on) should fix it, but a standby cycle won’t.

On the rare occasions when it happens with my Sony BRAVIA KDL-32W705B switching it to standby works for me, providing it’s not one of the light versions of standby. I.e. Power saving in standby has to be on and there must not be a recording taking place, or scheduled to start in the next 40 minutes.

Which HDMI port are you using on the TV Luke because I cannot replicate using port 3.

    @webby – My tests

3 mornings on the trot have had same with a 2000T, the unit actually completed the update on what I guess is the third pass of downloading, ie just after 9am.

A factory reset, with the format HDD option not ticked should not delete your recordings only the scheduled timers, and other user changeable settings.
