I’m just trying Web scheduling… It seems to think I only have one feed!

I don’t know if it got screwed up by me not restarting the HDR in time for the first scheduled timer, but this appears on the Web interface but not on the actual schedule timers list (on the HDR).

I’ve now managed to schedule a second timer (and restarting in time so it successfully appears on the HDR) but the interface still thinks I only have one feed! (I’ve just tested two instant recordings on different muxes, and appear to have two feeds!)

Well, I now have the Web interface… But after clicking on the Download and install Full Web interface, it did its thing and then told me to restart… I so I did, restart the HDR but only to be presented with the same Web interface screen.

Now when I press on Download and install Full Web Interface, it reports:

    Error 404: Not Found

    File not found

With the URL being the IP of my HDR and /install.cgi :(

    EDIT:

Ooh… Just switched the HDR from Radio to TV (after power cycling and putting it in and out of standby a few times), and refreshed my browser… and hey – got the full interface!

Looking good! And loving it! WOW scheduling timers via the Web! (Now have to find out how to and set up NAT so I can access the HDR from work!)

Display or Info button on the TV remote can also dismiss the input message…

Cheers for that raydon. I thought that was the idea but could not get the web page to load, so had to do it my way. Will try pointing a browser to it again…

Yes. First load the FOXSAT_HDR_upgrade.hdf onto a USB stick (4GB or less will work better). And use it to flash the HDR – connect the USB stick and power off+on the HDR at the back with the standby button pressed. Once flashed, remove the FOXSAT_HDR_upgrade.hdf file from the USB stick and put the telnet_10_mips.opk. Then repeat the flashing routine – this loads up the telnet program, so that you can telnet to the box and install further programs – such as FTP and SSH.

Make sure you set up your network settings in the Menus using the remote on the HDR, before attempting to telnet to the box or perform program update/installs…

Page 79 of the manual says:

    Power Consumption:

    Operation Max 28W

    Standby Max 11W

So consider yourself lucky if it only consumes 1W in standby… I’ve never had it less than 6W in standby when I measured this a long time ago… Back in the days of the 9200T, low power consumption wasn’t a (legal) requirement.

At 24W, it must have powered on 15 mins before a timer recording, to download the EPG and watch out for change time and start flags…

    I’m glad you asked ;)

    1. Media playback (lack of)

    2. Lack of DLNA support

    3. Better media/file management

    4. Timers in non-freesat mode

    5. Improved speed/response of interface (especially in filemanager)

There are others… I know one or two can be overcome by installing raydon’s firmware, but hey, we need Humax to bring modern hardware to the satellite platform… (facilities that some current satellite PVRs enjoy, i.e. those boxes for the continent.)

With the use of the BCM7425 in Humax boxes, will we ever see a hybrid PVR with twin tuners for satellite and twin tuners for terrestrial? (Quad tuners in all.)

Any news of an upgrade for the FOXSAT-HDR? I’m desperate for a Freesat PVR that is a bit like or better than the equivalent Freeview HDR-FOX T2…

Yes, the rar file is a ‘zipped’ file – you need winrar to extract the contents. Inside will the instructions/readme you are looking for…

Unfortunately, installing modded firmware is not for the faint-hearted, and Humax won’t be able to support you if you break your box installing such…

Recognising the .rar file is a compressed file that needs expanding maybe is the first test to see if you should be installing this or not…

But know I am thinking it must be possible to transfer direct from the Foxsat via my network to my PC and store the files on a hard drive.

No matter what I try I can not “see” the Foxsat HDR on my network when I look in “My network Places”.

If I look at connected devices on my router it can see the Foxsat with IP address 192.168.0.8

I have tried to set up a new device with “New network setup” on the PC.

So why can I not see it on my PC? Please tell me what I am doing wrong or if it cannot be done.

The FOXSAT-HDR has no network features like FTP or media serving DLNA – unlike the HDR-FOX T2.

You will need to install the modified firmware mentioned above by Graham to achieve this.

Any recommendations as to which make and model?

I recommend getting an external hard drive that can power on and off with the HDR, if you plan to plug it in and leave it in situ.

I have two 1TB LaCie d2‘s – one on the FOXSAT and one on the T2. Although these are expensive, they work quite very well, with ports for all your needs (USB, Firewire and eSATA).

Hey! Got Whitebear to work (transcoding flac to mp3) – seem like the firewall was blocking the Whitebear server – so disabling it allow my Humax to see it. After connecting Whitebear should have that client entry in its configuration, and all you have to do is tick the boxes that does the transcoding on the fly to mp3 – the second and third tick boxes in the Client Compatibility Settings for the Humax client entry (see pic).

You can download Squeezebox/Logitech Media server here – remember to install this first before install Whitebear (download here).

Goodnews: looks like you can download Logitech Media Server software and install it without having a Squeeze Box.

Badnews: still can’t get Whitebear to work with the Humax! XMBC works and can see Whitebear and can playback flac, but the HDR can’t see the Whitebear server only the Logitech Media server…

I wonder if andrewfg is still reading this forum and can tell me where I am going wrong? http://myhumax.org/forum/topic/hdr-fox-t2-upnp-dlna-issue#post-1296

Having had a chance to look at Whitebear, I don’t think it is suitable…

Whitebear Media Server is a very specialised Media Server application, that is specifically designed to interface with Logitech’s Squeezebox music server (Squeezebox Server).

Opps! Now let’s look for a media server software that can transcode on the fly… anyone know of such a piece of software?

Some foreign media will allow you to use the left/right cursor to skip, but not all. Try this first.

You can use raydon’s AV2HDR-T2 to convert to the HDR’s native video format which will give you all the convenience of a regular recording.

You can download AV2HDR-T2 from this page: http://myhumax.org/blog/?page_id=166 (note you need the HDR-FOX T2 version not the FOXSAT-HDR.)
