ParticipantI think you are looking at the wrong packaging! The HDR-1000S packaging does not state Humax TV Portal, YouTube and Internet radio.
It mention On Demand TV (iPlayer, ITV player, 4oD and Demand 5). The latter 2 coming later after launch.
EDIT: Yes it does! On the side, it mentions TV portal and YouTube.
On using the service however, it does claim ‘the service is subject to change without notice… services may be discontinued temporarily or permanently without further notice…’ (Currently, Wiki@TV, flickr, Picasa, teletext, and Humax Support are currently on the Portal – no YouTube or Internet Radio.)
Oh dear, who ever reviewed and gave this box 9/10..?

ParticipantWe all love Humax here, but it is not the cure for cancer!
Admittedly, other manufacturers would have a hard time competing and keeping up to the defacto standard Humax have created here.
Is it true that the FOXSAT-HDR is discontinued or is joinfreesat getting too excited in drumming up sales for the new box?

…oh and I know you’re still just getting set up (so no rush!) but they haven’t hidden an FTP server in there (like the HDR-FOX_T2) have they?
No export capability at all yet, see the questions/queries thread.
Is it time for a cable mod? 😆

ParticipantThere isn’t a PVR which excels at being a very good PVR and a very good Media player on the market at the moment, even with the release of the G2.
I wouldn’t recommend throwing away your PC running XBMC just yet.

ParticipantIf you are in a multiple transmitters area and the current software is not able to pick up just the strongest one, then try re-tuning without the aerial plugged in, and then plug it in at the 20% stage.
This is what I had to do at one stage, and this is what support’s advised when I had the problem! (I am sure there are safety issues with pulling antennae in and out when the box is powered on, so I would recommend calling up support about doing so, in case they have another solution and that you can sue them if you get injured doing so.)
With the current firmware, the YV box does not have this issue for me any more – it detects and selects the right transmitter (even though my HDR-FOX T2 does not, with even more channels appearing in the 800 range after a recent and forced retune!)

ParticipantThe 3view PVR supports DTS.
I would not recommend investing in that product though

ParticipantThe HDR-FOX T2 (Freeview+) has the same issue playing external media – never often displays the correct aspect ratio and just stretches to fit the screen.
The HDR-FOX T2 does however support surround sound (DD5.1) depending how the container format presents it to the HDR (although you might mean DTS to be something different). I would expect the 1000S to do the same.

ParticipantAlso based on experience, having originally replaced the hard disk in my 9200T with a normal (non-CE) Seagate (250GB) HDD – it is still going strong and has never presented any problems.
Since the 9150T, 9200T and 9300T are non-HD recorders, I would not worry about data transfer rate in the same vein as the newer FOXSAT or FOX T2 recorders.
(If you are that technical and worry about a drive lasting longer than the manufacturers warranty period – normally more than 3 years – then go for the first in my recommendation list, as its is a CE drive!)
myhumax
ParticipantI don’t think the drive has to be a CE drive in particular. You need a 3.5″ SATA (not SATA III) that is less than 750GB (I would say doubling your capacity to 320GB is enough and would be safer).
Here are some recommendations:
1. WD AV-GP WD3200AVVS – 320GB CE drive @ £40
2. Generic 320GB SATA 3.5″ @ £35
3. Seagate Barracuda 500GB SpinPoint F3 @ £54

Can anyone tell me what the problem is? Is the drive size of 2.7TB too large? Does it not like RAID 1 configurations? Or perhaps because the drives are SATA3?
It sounds like the HDR does not like the USB controller.
If there is a solution to this problem, perhaps someone could advise me, thank you.
I would suggest setting the enclosure up in its simplest configuration – i.e. single drive, formatted to EXT3 and then see if the HDR can see it. If it can then you can then go onto inserting another drive and looking to see if it can set that too. Then move on to a raid configuration.
If the HDR can see the simple set up, then I wouldn’t see why it can’t see the raid setup, as everything is presented via the USB 2.0 interface.

ParticipantI know you asked Bob, but I am currently looking at the internal HDD of the FOXSAT-HDR.
The Simple HDD swap for the FOXSAT-HDR has now moved to the wiki on this site.
There, the page also list drives users have found to work in the FOXSAT-HDR. Although it is quite old it indicates that practically any drive can be used in the HDR – you don’t need a high performance one.
In fact, as this post indicates, you are more likely to have problems with faster HDDs i.e. one running at 6Gbps rather than 3Gbps, that are sold today (i.e. SATA III drives, not SATA II.)
I am currently trying to install a Seagate Barracuda 2TB SATA drive into the FOXSAT-HDR, and am having lots of trouble. I don’t think it will work… (However, I have found it to work in the HDR-FOX T2! This will be a blog article soon.)
Let me know what the drive make and model once you have decided to put into your FOXSAT, and I will update the wiki page.

ParticipantIf we are talking about the FOXSAT HD (i.e. the Freesat STB), then unfortunately, you CAN NOT record using this box.
(It does not have the same functionality as the HD-FOX T2 – the Freeview STB – which can record to an attached USB drive.)

ParticipantMy D-link NAS 320 has several functions from SMB to DLNA. I have to enable the DLNA server by selecting the ‘folders’ on the NAS hard drives and ‘share’ them. Once shared, the HDR can then see the shares under ‘folders’.
You might need to do something similar with your Logitech Media Server. Are you certain that the folders access by the other client is done via DLNA (UPnP) service?
I am not too familiar with Logitech Media Server, but if it is the software that I installed a while ago to test out music streaming, I will have an investigate for you.
myhumax
ParticipantFolders are shares on my D-Link 320 NAS. I don’t know what your DLNA server is, but you must be able to setup shares so that the HDR can see them as folders.
I suspect none have been setup and so you are not seeing anything when you go into ‘folders’.
