I use a hamster to power the box in standby… I might have to upgrade to a rabbit if I want to turn powersaving off 😆

Any chance of values for it when viewing an HD channel, and when viewing one HD channel, and recording another HD channel? (I’ve mis-placed my power meter…)

I don’t think this is going to happen…

The best you can do is to transcode these to MP3.

Whitebear Media server can transcode WAV, FLAC and ALAC on the fly, and with v1.02.20 of the firmware, it works – apparently (not tried it myself*).

*Another thing to test and confirm…

The manual is kept short and simple so that it is not overwhelming at first read for new users.

Cost of producing large, detailed and colour manuals will increase the overall cost of the product.

Manufacturers can not and do not produce new updated manuals for each firmware release – there are notes that come along with each firmware to inform users of fixes, and if there are major changes, then there are electronic addendums.

This is just my view but probably reflect the truth. I would also rather they concentrate their efforts on fixing bugs and adding features, than producing Ikea-type manuals! Anyway, isn’t what forums such as myhumax.org are for? to fill in the missing info and help users? more effective in this age than a glossy manual – I would say!

Is it possible to hack the humax HDR Fox 2T to decode it’s .ts files on the fly when another player wants to view them?

Probably not. The best the hackers might do is to encode recordings to another format (say divx) overnight, at a set time, or when the box is not so busy…

if not would the second item on this page be able to read the files from the HDR Fox t2 on it’s own without the hummuy having to do anything but serve up the files. The speil for this box says:

Video File support: mkv, ts, m2ts, mts, tp, trp, wmv, vob, ifo, iso, dat, avi, mpg, mp4, mov, rm, rmvb, Xvid, flv and mpeg.

    and

Video Codec SupportH.264, MKV, VC-1, MPEG 1/2/4, HD Xvid, FLV and RM/RMVB.

    Cheers,

    Podman

The HD-FOX T2 is able to playback .ts files from the 9200T, .ts files from a capture card produced by MediaPortal, the .ts from a FOXSAT-HDR, and the HD sample .ts files here, and the sample in the first post here, served by the HDR-FOX T2. I haven’t tested these using any other DLNA clients (such as XBMC) yet.

Keep an eye on this page: http://myhumax.org/wiki/index.php/Media_Playback

I will update it with additions of DLNA playback formats, soon.

Quote by son_t :- Have you tried enabling the antenna power option on the Humax?

This option supplies power onto the Co-ax cable to power a masthead amplifier, If you only have an aerial on the other end of the co-ax it won’t help, It may also damage the Humax

Have never damaged any of mine* – there’s a power protect mechanism on the Humax boxes! Unlike, other boxes**, Humaxes are properly made – if they provide such an option, and it was prone to cause damage, they would provide protection.

It sounded, at the time, like the OP had such a masthead amplifier, so it was one troubleshooting idea. Although, I could have asked if he had such a masthead amp, I decided not to as if he had known he had one he would have already tried it and a gentle reminder would not have hurt (see above)!

I have had several discussions on DS about the SD machines Antenna Power setting, unfortunately some people think it’s a magic power boost setting.

Some users on DS are numpties, unlike users here ;) Best not to participate on those forums :p

*Or read of anyone doing so to their boxes either!

**I would not have suggested doing this on a 3View box or even the DS.

    JerryL – 45 minutes ago  »

I am capable of taking out/replacing drives. Can I remove the 9200 drive, fit it in a caddy and connect via USB to the Fox, to do this?

Advice / guidance most welcome, thanks.

    Jerry

Best to take the 9200T’s HDD and connected it to a PC (either internally using the IDE interface, or use an IDE to USB device externally). Remember not to initialise the HDD when Windows detects it. Then use HumaxRW to retrieve all the recordings.

The HDR should be able to playback the .ts files straight off an attached USB drive or you can use AV2HDR-T2 to transcode them to its native format.

    I have the HD- and HDR-FOX T2.

The HDR act as both server and client (affected by the 4GB limit streaming bug).

The HD can not act as a server*. The HDR can not serve recordings or media that is stored on an attached USB drive (can only serve media that is on the internal HDD).

*Must test this and confirm, though.

EDIT: Confirmed, there is no Content Share (or FTP server) option in Settings->System->Internet Setting on the HD, and it does not appear on the network.

I suppose it silly of me to ask if you’ve tried setting both the 9200T to 16:9 and the TV to 16:9 aspect ratios?

Can you not loop through the feed from TV to Humax? If you can, what kind of signal strength do you get?

Have you tried enabling the antenna power option on the Humax?

I Googled BT Home Hub 2.0 Media Gateway UPnP and this is what came up first: http://community.bt.com/t5/BB-Speed-Connection-Issues/UPnP-Unreliable-on-Home-Hub-2-0/td-p/13083

The Humax should be able to discover it if UPnP is working correctly on the Media Home Hub – make sure it is working. You can download XMBC and install on the PC and use it to test if the Home Hub is working via UPnP.

Sounds like the router does work without the broadband connection. Assuming so, you should check that the HDR is assigned a static IP (one that is similar but not the same as the PC – last quartet number should be different, use ipconfig in the command line on the PC, take down the details such as the gateway IP, to use on the HDR).

Then make sure you have FTP enabled on the HDR and open a folder or web browser on the PC and type in the location bar the following: ftp://humaxftp:0000@IP-ADDRESS-OF-HDR/

You can then drag and drop the recordings to where you want to.store the backup of.the recordings – making sure you save all three files per recording (hmt, nts,ts).

If all this is beyond any comprehension, I might write a blog post for connecting to the HDR for dummies…

If you live in an area with multiple transmitters then a manual tune will fix this problem.

Read my blog post about the HD FOX T2 here: http://myhumax.org/blog/?p=540

There’s a section on manual tuning.

Use VLC player to playback transferred recordings. It sounds like WMP is not able to select the correct audio stream when playing back…

    Or what Graham recommends…

Just attach a permanent USB drive to the HDR – you can then transfer SD recordings to it (which will be decrypted once on the external drive.)

You can then FTP from the external drive (it appears as drive1) directly to your desktop.

Generally, yes, if you want to use all the recording and trick play facility of the twin tuner. But it just the two feeds you need from two outputs on one (twin or quad output) LNB.

However, if you only have one cable and one feed, then the box is still very useful and works adequately as a single tuner Freesat PVR. You can also use the loop-through feed (a cable needed to connect the LNB output to the second LNB input) to slightly increase your recording options (look at Graham spreadsheet utility here).
