The only boxes you can export content from to view on other kit are
Foxsat-HDR (requires custom firmware)
HDR-Fox-T2
HDR-1800/2000T.
Surely the FVP-4000T and FVP-5000T should be added to that list (SD content only)?

There are seven separate reports in that thread which isn’t a lot and several suggested different causes. In my book it is a known issue but not a “very common problem” as you stated.
I do suspect that there is a problem with the hard drive especially with a refurbished unit where the hard drive was probably re-certified.
I have never seen any evidence that the drives are recertified; I suspect they will be given a quick test but it isn’t unknown for refurbished boxes to be shipped with drives that are not in a satisfactory state.
I have only had the receiver for a few days so hopefully there will be no problem returning the unit.
I would expect that as you say there will be no problem in arranging a replacement box and hopefully the next one will be problem free.

First problem is that the unit keeps powering itself on for no reason, no scheduled recordings etc. The receiver is in standby mode (red light on) and turns itself on for no reason (blue light on) and then stays in the power on mode. This does seem a common problem with these receivers going by other forum threads, is there a fix?
I am not convinced it is a very common problem; I don’t recollect having seen it happen on my FVP-5000T.
The second problem is I tried to use the “Factory Default” to fix this problem and selected the reset all settings & format HDD, this failed with the following error: The storage is not formatted yet. Please try again.
That sounds like a problem with the hard drive. I would contact the supplier with a view to getting a replacement sent out.

This is consistent through the Mux channels.
I am not familiar with the term “Mux channels”; please could you clarify which of the multiplexes you are describing?
The Aura and the TV return the same signal and quality figures.
Please could you tell us the signal strength and quality figures for each of the multiplexes?

PS dont tell me my weak channel is my Arial. because the Tv plays the channel perfectly
and my computer with tuner fitted on the same Arial line is perfect.
So the aura tuner is weak.
Perhaps you could tell us the signal strength and quality on the channel in question? There are several other possible causes other than a weak signal.

It would be interesting to know if anyone else had had a similar experience.
To me that sounds as though the Humax software has crashed and caused a reboot. It has happened very occasionally (once or twice a year) on every PVR I have owned. If it reoccurs in the next few weeks then something is wrong; but if it is 6 months before you see a similar issue then write it off as one of those things that shouldn’t happen but does.

I also seem to have a sound issue on most recordings, where every few minutes I have a short loss of sound (less than half a second), which again is liveable with for the time being, but needs fixing.
What make and model of TV do you have? I experienced a similar problem with the combination of an HDR-FOX T2 and an LG-49UJ750V.

Have contacted Humax told me to switch off switch back on if this doesn’t work buy a new one!!!!.
If you are prepared to open the Humax then the first thing to try would be to disconnect the leads to the hard drive and see if the box now boots and performs as a set top box. If it does then fitting a new hard drive stands a good chance of resolving the problem.

According to the WD purple drive manual it can be set to 1.5G/s transfer speed.
In which case the drive should be suitable.

Are the WD purple “Survilance” drives suitable?
I think any modern drive you buy will be SATA III by default. The Foxsat needs a SATA II drive and you need to check that whatever drive you buy can be set to SATA II mode. It used to be done by jumpers but I think some drives require you to use a software utility.

If I remember correctly, Cute FTP just found the 9200 on the network and I was able to copy files from it to my PC.
As the 9200 doesn’t have any networking capability that is astonishing. It can’t have been the HDR-FOX T2 either because although that does have network capability and an FTP server, content downloaded by FTP will remain encrypted. The only ways I know to download content from a 9200T are either via the USB port using Humax Media Controller or Humax eLinker; alternatively connect the hard drive to a PC and use Humaxrw or Hummy readfiles.

OK – I started with a 9200 over 10 years ago (using Cute FTP to download its files),
I would love to know how you managed to use an FTP client with a box that doesn’t have an FTP server on it.
