This is annoying and I am not convinced it is a Humax problem. I suspect it is a BBC iPlayer problem. Does anyone else have this?

I watched a live stream via a Humax Aura yesterday without any issues.

Having read other threads since my post, you are quite right Martin, sorry to mislead.

In principle though, it should be possible to get to 2TB in the existing machine, preserve the old recordings, and have new space available, without the poster’s father in law having to learn how to use a new machine.

    I fully agree.

Oh and he could get him to record the SD channel instead of the HD one to eek out the remaining space.

Yes or alternatively install the Foxsat HDR custom firmware and Nowsters patch.

So you could consider removing the 1TB drive from the Foxsat HDR, and fit a 2 (or even 3 or 4)TB drive, let the Foxsat HDR format it,

I think there is zero chance that a capacity bigger than 2TB is possible with the Foxsat HDR unless someone develops support for a GPT style partition table. Also I seem to recollect that the largest drive that a Foxsat HDR will format itself is 1TB but it is possible to format a 2TB drive on a computer running Linux.

Good morning, I am trying to help my aged father in law. He has filled his Humax FOXSAT-HDR with a 100hour collection of Proms ‘ files ‘. He wants to buy a new Humax with 2T of space to record this seasons music. All ok but now wants to transfer over all the 100 hours to new Humax. I am told each file is ‘ encrypted ‘ and so when moved to new box they will not play??

Are the recordings SD (Standard Definition) or HD (High Definition)? I think the SD recordings are not encrypted. If SD then this guide to getting the recordings off may help https://www.360panoramas.co.uk/humax/. If HD then removing encryption is a touchy subject on this forum so you might do better to ask the question over at https://hummy.tv but there isn’t a simple answer as far as I know.

I have FTP’d some converted programs to my PC, both SD and HD, but the files do not have any embedded DVB subtitles when viewed with VLC. Have I missed something or is it not possible to convert files without losing subtitles?

I haven’t seen it reported before but I guess the subtitles and probably various other meta data is being stripped out by the conversion which does have the benefit of reducing file size. It might be worth asking Humax support for confirmation and lodge a request to have an option to leave subtitles and or Audio Description in place when converting.

The subtitles are out of sync on my HDR2000, sometimes by as much as 15 seconds!

Is there any remedy for this?

It is a well known problem which also affects the HDR-FOX T2 and I am not aware of any solution. Later Humax models (FVP-5000T, Aura) have perfect subtitle synch.

I quite often see the “no recordings” message after bring the box out of standby. I have always waited and eventually the recordings appear without needing to do anything other than be patient. Obviously there will be rare cases where the file system has got corrupted but in most cases no action, other than waiting, is required.

Judging by the size, the .HTS files contain the TS video – but mothing I have tried can make any sense of them – any program/process recommendations to make them playable?

They are encrypted and unless a way can be found to remove the encryption then they will only play on the box that recorded them.

My Freesat 1100 recently died (attempted start up, power is being fed but nothing comes on) if the power stage is fried can I transfer the hard drive into an external storage box and then transfer the recorded programs into a new box (say a Freesat 4K 1Tb)?

Sadly no because the recordings are encrypted and will only play on the original box see https://www.burningimage.net/humaxusb/

    Lost or Forgotten Username

I have a similar problem but having reset the PIN to 0000 I now realise that I have forgotten my username. I have the Special Firmware on the Foxsat-HDR 500MB version. Should I do a factory reset and reload the Firmware or remove the Firmware using the remove software? Will I be able to do a reload of the Firmware and have a new username and password without affecting the 450MB of program files on the HDD?

Your problem isn’t at all similar and you posted in the wrong section of the forum; it would be helpful if you started a new thread in the correct forum for future questions. A possible answer to your question is at https://www.avforums.com/threads/web-interface-v2-7-for-foxsat-hdr.1629459/page-3#post-17837482

All I need to do now is locate the Raydon software and some instructions as to how to proceed from there.

Which Humax box do you have? The Raydon software is for FOXSAT HDR Freesat box. If you have an HDR-FOX T2 or HD-FOX T2 Freeview box you want the custom firmware from hummy.tv see https://wiki.hummy.tv/wiki/Install_Modified_Firmware

Regarding issue b) it seems to be CH4 only. The series link pop-up happens on other channels. Any ideas as to the cause?

Perhaps another Freesat user could tell us whether or not they see the same problem. Is it SD or HD that you are recording?

To answer my own question for the benefit of future users.

Humax have confirmed that the app is broken and won’t be fixed.

Something like an Amazon Firestick would be a possible workaround.

Did you try to buy any content?

No just watching, I have not needed to purchase anything as everything I watch is included in Prime.

The problem referred to in the previous two posts to yours is about in app purchases.
