The aerial out socket.
Do you have power saving in standby set to off?

But with the booster bypassed the TV is crap.
How is the signal being fed to the TV (via a splitter or from the aerial out socket of the Humax)?

You’re probably right, my Aura is set to automatically go into deep standby every night at 22:30.
Perhaps whilst you are away you could set the Aura to go into normal sleep rather than deep sleep which may be less troublesome at the expense of using a bit more power.

I moved the FVP-5000T after it became unresponsive to the Remote Control. The Aerial lead fell out and, when re-plugging, I mixed up the RF IN and RF OUT. I only noticed this after I’d lifted the FVP-5000T off its shelf and looked at the labels below the sockets on the back (a coax coupler had been fitted on the RF OUT socket).
Thanks for coming back to us with an explanation. I think we have all made similar mistakes at one time or another and it is always good to understand the cause.

No, I’ve not tried retuning – The Aerial signal is not getting into the PVR-5000T. RF pass thru is not working.
Signal not coming out isn’t necessarily the same as signal not getting in. Do you have power saving mode turned off? Did this happen suddenly?

This issue has happened to several members on the Aura part of this forum, including myself, and I am trying to establish if it is just Aura related or a more general PVR problem which is then likely to be the broadcaster’s fault.
Some of the recordings I have seen the issue with are:
> F1 Singapore Qualifying and the Race (CH4HD and CH4+1)
> Grand Designs (CH4HD)
> Taskmaster (CH4HD)
> The GBBO An Extra Slice (CH4HD)
There is a thread over at hummy.tv about the HDR-FOX T2 with some people reporting problems with recording Channel 4 programmes and others reporting successful recording of the same programme. My guess is that it is a broadcaster issue but it might be a transmitter related issue.

I have an HDR2000T – will that work as you explain above?
You have posted in the HDR-FOX T2 section of the forum; please be careful to post in the correct section of the forum in future. The custom firmware isn’t available for the HDR-FOX T2 so I am afraid that is a non-starter now that we know you have an HDR-2000T. As far as I know the only way to fix the problem on an HDR-2000T will be to take the hard drive out and connect it to a computer running Linux. Maybe someone else has a simpler solution.

This has just happened to me. It started when I clicked on a recording to play but it clicked straight back into the menu again.
I noticed the machine has been quite noisy lately.
I’m non techie and don’t understand what I can do to save all my precious recordings.
Can somebody please help
Assuming you do have an HDR-FOX T2 then the easiest way of retaining the recordings would be to pop over to hummy.tv and install the custom firmware and run fix-disk. See https://wiki.hummy.tv/wiki/Install_Modified_Firmware and https://wiki.hummy.tv/wiki/Maintenance_Mode_Disk_Check

If I want the ability to record off air,
what are my options?
Have you tried a retune?

My apololgies for my ignorance. I will give it a try this weekend.
No need to apologise; it isn’t something that is immediately obvious.

I have sent you a Private Message with a link to download the file.
In hardware terms they are almost identical and the FVP-5000T software will run on an FVP-4000T without problem. If you dig back in the archives of this forum you will find people using FVP-5000T software on their FVP-4000T long before Humax confirmed that it worked. My take is that the FVP-5000T was launched with some software improvements because the FVP-4000T had got such a poor reputation.

The HDR-2000T looks just right with one exception. One of the reviews states that in order for a timed recording to record, you have to leave the PVR switched on rather than on standby. Can anyone who has one confirm or deny that this is true?
Absolute nonsense.

Yes please – anything is worth a try.

So my question is, do Humax have any current freeview PVR models with a more simple playback menu that even technophobes can work?
Humax are still selling the HDR-2000T which has a simpler interface. Otherwise consider the Manhattan T3-R.

So my question is – is there an archive of previous upgrade files available?
Not as far as I know. I have a copy of an FVP upgrade dated 20-07-2020 if you want it. I doubt that changing software versions will help but no harm in experimenting.
