Some suggest that it deosn’t support Netflix and/or Amazon Prime Video, some disagree!

The Aura supports Amazon Prime Video (the remote control has an Amazon Prime button). It doesn’t officially support Netflix; because it is an Android box it may be feasible to side load Netflix but I have never tried this and it may well get increasingly challenging due to the Android TV software not being updated to a more recent release.

An Amazon Firestick will give you Amazon Prime and Netflix.

Can anyone confirm if the PVR 9300T can receive BBC iPlayer and Netflix?

The 9300T is not able to receive neither iPlayer nor Netflix. The FVP-5000T can receive both.

Just for reference, the 4 boxes i have:

    BT branded DTR-T2100/500G/BT/DF

    HUMAX Branded DTR-T2000/GB/500B

Question: would replacing spinning disc to ssd drive to gain faster loadmenu times?

I notice a (upto) 3 second lag in the youview menu image population.

I don’t have a Youview box so I can’t give a definitive answer. My guess, for what little it is worth, is that it wouldn’t help but there is only one way to find out for certain and that is to try it.

My Humax Foxsat PVR is showing 45% usage but there is under 8 hours of video recorded. Any idea why it is doing this and how I can get it back to normal?

Another possible explanation is file system corruption. Either you could try formatting the hard drive via the Foxsat menus or you take the drive out and attach it to a computer running Linux and run fsck to check the file system.

When researching it’s always easy to find the faults people are having and there do seem a few issues but they may not be representative.

My question is would you buy an Aura now, wait for something better or is there something better out there?

You are asking a very sensible question and I don’t think the answer is clear cut. I have an Aura and whilst it has a few bugs, I don’t see them often and generally it is reliable in recording and I prefer it to my HDR-FOX T2. I am sure you will get opinions from other people whose usage means they encounter bugs more frequently that I very, very rarely see. If you do decide to buy do it online so you have a right to return if you hate it.

A top tip maybe is to delete down all the channels you don’t watch as this slows the box down a lot.

The idea is right but in my experience it is better to do it by deleting all saved channels and then doing a manual tune of the three most used multiplexes.

Has anyone put a solid state drive into a box and noticed a performance improvement? (Not focused on ssd drive and case temperature drop or any minor power usage drop)

Faster start up from energy saving mode?

Faster TV guide or faster youview menu or faster recording list load times?

Or any other performance gains I haven’t mentioned?

Various people have put SSD drives into various Humax boxes. I don’t think anybody has reported any significant performance improvements. The main advantage is the absence of hard drive noise. I think the main limiting factor on the Humax PVRs is the CPU performance and on some models insufficient RAM.

So is there any point in setting the box to standby (the red light comes on)? Does it use less power than just leaving on (Blue light lit)?

Yes it uses less power in standby, the hard drive is powered down for instance.

The Legend Channel is no longer showing on Humax. It was on 96 on Humax & 41 on direct link to Ariel. It’s still on 41 but can’t be found on Humax.

    Retuning hasn’t corrected.

Are you retuning with the “smart” option active? If so try turning it off and try another retune. Note that without the smart option you will lose your schedule of future recordings.

Is there someone who can help Drabble88 please?

He posted on three different threads and I have posted a possible solution on one of the threads (Turn on remote recording in settings).

Now this feels like a discharge of static or other charge, which would perhaps explain why the more recent handset suddenly went from fine to non-working, on pretty much all keys at the same time.

I would say it is simply power cycling the remote after it got itself into an odd state.

I’m having similar problem I went to settings I saw remote recording option but it wasn’t lit up for me to select so I can’t get my registration code.

Have you turned on the remote recording option in Settings (Settings> Advanced Settings> Remote Recording)?

I’ve had several recording issues with my new Aura and Humax Support are now suggesting that I reformat the disk.

Perhaps you would like to describe the issues you have had?

Is there a way that I can backup (e.g. to my PC) all my recordings so that I can then restore them?

You can backup the recordings in various ways eg FTP but restoring them as they were, isn’t as far as I am aware possible. If they are SD recordings then you can put them in the upload directory so they are on the Aura but you will probably need something like VLC to play them. HD recordings are encrypted so you can’t, as far as I know, do anything useful with them.

I live about 10 miles from Sandy Heath transmitter. I just checked my signal strength & it says for Tuner 1 Quality 100% Strength 78%. But there are another 2 tuners which both say 0% 0%, is that correct.

The signal strength and quality are good.

I also just checked my series link for Corrie & still active although it has not recorded about 12 episodes ??

Cancel the series link and reschedule it and see if that helps.

I have set it to record movies from various channels & some record ok, some are corrupted (showing a broken tape) no idea why, not had any power cuts & TV signal is excellent.

Have you actually tried playing the recordings that are shown as failures? In my experience more often than not they play properly with no discernible problem. What is the signal strength and quality as reported by the Humax when tuned to ITV?
