I have an HDR1000s that worked fine until 2 weeks ago,
I now get this message every time I try to rewind live TV:
“This function does not work while retrieving data for time shift buffer.
try again in a few seconds.”
Most likely problem is that the time shift buffer has become corrupt. Depending on your skills, the simple fix is to format the hard drive but that will delete all saved recordings; the alternative is to take the hard drive out and attach it to a computer running Linux and delete the time shift buffer file (if you do go down this is route it would also be worth examining the SMART data and running a file system check).

1800t remote not working in menu /when preesing -find or schedule or group ,nothing work .
Did it previously work and has stopped working recently? What model number is the remote (may be on a sticker in the battery compartment if not obvious elsewhere)?

I have removed the hard disk and find that the box now works as if it is just a set top box. I assume this means the hard drive is the issue.
You could do some checks on the hard drive to see if it is defunct or the file system has just become corrupted.
Do you have any suggestions for what I need to find as a replacement and where I might be lucky to find one.
Hard drives have moved on since the 9300T was released and you won’t easily find an exact replacement. My experience is that buying second hand drives is all too often a waste of time and money. I would suggest a new Wester Digital WD10PURZ 1TB surveillance drive or a Seagate Skyhawk 1TB drive. Both about £45. !TB is far more storage space that the 9300T can actually support but I think they will work. If you go down this route buy from a reliable on-line seller who will allow the device to be returned if not suitable,

Turning the pvr into a set top box (should the hard disk removal work) is no use to me as it is the recording function that I need.
Removing the disk and testing if the box works as a set top box is a diagnostic, not a long term solution. The intent is to find out if the problem is with the hard drive or on the motherboard. If need be changing the hard drive isn’t difficult.

Hi there. My problem is that my PVR 9300T will not boot or reboot up. All I get is a display showing the time (which is wrong by the way).
The first thing to do would be to open the 9300T and disconnect the hard drive. Then see if the box will boot up without the hard drive and function as a set top box. If it does then the most likely problem is that the hard drive needs replacing.

In my practical experience, the expensive, but quality SSDs, are fine, but they are cost prohibitive, compared to the mature technology of a hard drive. Yes, they are coming down in price, but aren’t yet there, IMHO.
Currently you can buy a 2TB Samsung Evo 870 for £99.99 in Currys which strikes me as pretty reasonable compared to a rotating drive of the same capacity; a bit more expensive but I wouldn’t say prohibitive.

I now have display of HDD recordings on MediaPlayer rather than in Humax folder on my laptop. As MediaPlayer does not store any recordings these must be somewhere on my laptop’s HDD but where?
If you re looking at them via MediaPlayer then you will be connected to the DLNA server on the Humax and you will be streaming the content from the Humax. With the right client the SD content can be captured and stored on the PC. If you have Windows 10 then a suitable client is already installed and I believe that the same client is available on Windows 11 but by default is not activated.

I have HDR-1100S Freesat box and I’m concerned it will no longer receive software updates. Can anyone tell me the number of the latest update and also firmware version which might give me a clue as to what the future holds?
Latest software version on the Humax website is UKSFAA 3.01.01 produce on 22 May 2022 see https://uk.humaxdigital.com/support/?product_id=857&curr_page=sw_release. Who knows whether there will be future updates; Humax no longer have the contract to produce Freesat boxes.

I’m not sure ssd is reliable enough for long term overwriting with frequent recordings and deletions.
Large capacity, good quality SSDs are, according to my arithmetic, good enough for the average users requirements. They don’t offer much advantage in a PVR but the prices of SSDs continue to drop.
Personally, I still like to find programmes to record and watch at my leisure, instead of trying to find stuff of streaming services.
Me too.
I’m hoping the next Manhattan T4 coming soon will give me hope, but I don’t see much coming from Humax. I’d like to be proved wrong on Humax. What do you think?
I look forward to seeing how the Mahattan T4-R stacks up when it arrives. It seems to me that at a corporate level, PVR development is nowhere near the top of the priorities for Humax. I still think it is a shame that the Aura was not given a bit more development to fix some of the more obvious bugs which wouldn’t have cost a fortune and would have improved the reputation of the Aura.

The extra unwanted recordings seem to be random for example ” House of Lords debate” or “Married at First Sight Australia” Some of them are preceded by “new”
One possibility is that there is a problem with that the data in the stream that triggers the start of the recording has been set incorrectly by the broadcaster. The next time it happens please could you post here giving channel number, programme name, time of recording and whether it was SD or HD recording.

Why does my Aura record extra programmmes that I did not request?
Can you give an example please? Do you have the ability to set remote recordings active?

Clearly, the data is still on the disk, but it appears to be the index that is corrupt.
As the unit is no longer under warranty, I decided to remove the hard drive with the hope of recovering the data at some point in time using the utilities on my PC.
What I would try is to boot your PC from a Live CD or USB with a modern Linux distribution and try using the file system repair tools and looking at the SMART data. Happy to do it for you if you wanted to send me the hard drive.

Thing is when i start normal viewing and going through other channels they seem to be there but intermitten picture and normal audio.
Certainly looks like poor signal strength (my 40 year old internal Ariel maybe), or they have turned down the power switch to save energy……..like the rest of us!
Please tell us what is the signal strength and quality as reported by the Humax when a) watching an SD channel live and b) watching an HD channel live via the Humax?
