Could this have something to do with my HomeNetwork settings?
Is UPnP enabled in your router?

Excuse my ignorance but RGB?
Menu> Preferences >A/V control allows a choice of CVBS, RGB and S-Video; RGB will give the best picture quality.

The Panasonic TV has the menu option to disable the rescan prompt. I’d hoped the HDR would have a similar option.
The only way I know to help with this problem is to install the user community enhanced software for the HDR which will allow you to back up the schedule before the rescan and restores it after the rescan. There are people investigating how to turn it off but nothing useful so far.

Hello,
New here. 1st post !
Have just upgraded from the PVR 9200T & purchased a HDR Fox T2.
I want to connect the new kit to my network, is there an alternative to the Humax dongle ?
Most common alternative is :
EW-7711UTn – Mini-size with built in antenna (Amazon Rating 4/5 – 159 votes)
EW-7711UAn – Mini-size with Built-in high gain 3dBi antenna (Amazon Rating 4/5 – 218 votes)
EW-7711USn – Normal size with detachable high gain 3dBi detachable external antenna (Amazon Rating 4/5 – 12 votes
I already have an Xbox connected via a dongle but the connections not great and drops regularly.
Could the new kit be connected via those power socket plug in extenders ?
How well a dongle works will be very dependent on your particular setup (distance and number of walls to router etc). For about £10 it isn’t a bad gamble particularly as somebody here would take it off your hands if it didn’t work. Homeplug devices are a good alternative (and what we use) but more expensive.

I did manually re-scan the channels but I don’t think I deleted all the channels
before I did it, just the ones that were in the wrong place like BBC1.
Deleting all channels before starting is essential.

Does this mean I have to do a manual install ?
I would definitely recommend it. See my instructions at http://myhumax.org/forum/topic/transmitters#post-2336

A scheduled programme didn’t record due to it not being ‘tracked’. Why would this happen?
As well as Barry’s answer, box not tuned correctly could produce this behaviour.

I am new to this forum and am having exactly the same problems – I have attempted to access the portal by computer and find that it only shows the option but dies when you try to load one of them
The portal is working. I am surprised you could access it from a PC; it is set up to reject anything but a Humax box attempting to connect. Anything odd about your setup (one user had a long battle to get it working but hadn’t mentioned taht he didn’t have an aerial connected.

What i am trying to achieve is an HD component out from the Humax with HD resolution. Can someone tell me if i am going in the right direction ?? s
I don’t think you will get HD resolution from the SCART.

Is it possible to stop the ‘please rescan’ banner appearing at power-on? I don’t need to keep up with every tiny channel change and, more importantly, it’s a pita to re-enter all the recording schedules when one of the kids unwittingly hits ‘ok’.
I have had a look within the menus but I can’t find the setting I need…
There is no such setting. The only work around is to install the user community enhanced firmware which (amongst other things) allows the recording schedule to be backed up before the scan and restored afterwards.

can anyone help, i have the humax wifi dongle and i have had the dongle working on another router. i have now had to change routers, new router name etc. the humax sees the router ok and asks for password. it then spends about 1 min trying to connect then saying the details must be wrong. can anyone help please.
Does the password contain spaces or non alphanumeric characters? There have been reports that these cause problems with the Humax.

Many thanks for your help Martin. After the drive is formated will the record icon reappear on the menu?
If it prompts you to format the drive then I would be very confident that the record icon (and all associated functionality) will be restored.

A couple of things occur to me.
1) The ‘software update’ updates the firmware stored in non-volatile memory not on the hard drive and if interupted can cause the unit to fail to boot at all.
In my view that could only happen if updating the loader (which has to be via a serial line).

I spoke to Humax tech line who said unplugging during a software download would have caused the hard drive to fail.
Complete nonsense. You can do a software update without a hard drive installed (and I have done hundreds of them).

My hard drive is u.s after I interrupted a software update. The record function has now gone from the menu in it’s place is games.
I have obtained a new drive (seagate ST3160215ACE)
Can anyone provide me with a step by step idiots guide for replacement?
and will I need to download new software before or after installing the new drive?
No need for software. A step by step guide (which is essentially do the obvious);
Disconnect the mains lead
Remove screws (five?) holding lid.
Disconnect power and data cables to hard drive.
Remove screws holding disk carrier to main unit.
Separate hard drive from carrier.
Check jumper setting on new drive is same as old.
Attach hard drive to carrier.
Screw carrier in place (don’t be tempted to leave it loose; various people have and have then knocked the box when running and the hard drive touches the power supply and the power supply is toast).
Reattach cables.
Fit lid.
Power on. Box should askk for permission to format hard drive, accept, format will only take a couple of seconds.
Job done.
