To overcome this, do it again, make a note of what IP address it assigns, and enter that address manually into the HDR.
I would suggest that is a really bad idea. Chaos will ensue when the router allocates the same IP address to a different device. Using a fixed address on the same subnet but outside the range of addresses allocated by DHCP would be a much better idea.
You are, of course, right – in the general case, where devices are frequently coming and going on a network. However, in many cases, a domestic network has a relatively fixed number of devices which always end up with the same IP addresses.
Which makes it all the more mystifying for the end user when something that has worked for ages suddenly stops working when something new is plugged into the network. It does seem to me that many of the problems being reported are because users do not have any network skills. Eventually the technology will evolve so that the skills are not necessary but at the moment when issuing advice on a forum I think it is better to offer conservative choices.

When I switch the Humax off on the remote it takes ages to power off and the TV to come on.
The Humax is writing the EPG to disk when you put it into standby so that the EPG will be repopulated quite quickly when next made active. The number one complaint used to be about the length of time taken to populate the EPG after coming out of standby. You could go back to an earlier firmware if you prefer quick shutdown at the expense of slow EPG population or I assume there will be a button on the TV remote to manually switch the input from SCART to the TV tuner.

There is a GUI front end for HumaxRW at http://www.betelgeuse-observatory.com/Downloads/HumaxRWFront-End.zip
To whom do we give credit for it?
User Astronomy over on hummy.tv who signs his posts Thomas.

If this has not fixed the problem will the HumaxRW with or without the GUI work with the cable mod,I had thought that was a replacement for elinker?
You thought wrong. Media Controller is the replacement for eLinker (and hence connects to the USB port on the Humax). HumaxRW requires direct access to the hard drive and so will work with the cable mod.

Does anyone else have the same problem?
There are a number of reports over on DigitalSpy of EPG problems of various sorts affecting the SD models.

1). I was offered a choice of region, both West Midlands and Cambridge/Bedford (Sandy Heath) were offered. I have since tied selecting each of the transmitters and both give the same problem. Sandy Heath is the one that is recommended by the digital website.
What are the signal strengths and quality on the various multiplexes?

I installed my new Humax HDR-Fox T2 yesterday, but am getting poor signal and pixelation on all channels, to my Sony HD Freeview TV.
Does this occur with the Humax active and in standby?

Are you saying aerial power is lost when you go into menu?
No; that wouldn’t have anything to do with the loader. I haven’t seen this personally but I suspect it is similar to a problem that affected the 9200 where the loader does not activate the aerial power.

Is the Loader software seperate to the operating system or contained within?
Is there any obvious negative effect of only having the earlier loader version
The loader is seperate from the operating system (although Humax have taken to providing downloads that contain both). Providing the box boots and and automatically updates then updating only the loader will offer no benefit; it will help in a small number of cases for people who have problems.

Martin, does the early loader only affect the Auto Update system? From your post I’m assuming a user instigated Automatic or Manual Update was possible?
It affects both automatic or manual update (because the problem is that the aerial power is lost so there is no reception). I don’t understand how you think that my post suggests otherwise; perhaps you could explain?

ParticipantJust for information, I have been helping someone to update software on a 9150 via email. OTA updates failed with an E-HW. I eventually realied that the problem was a very early loader version in conjunction with the fact that the Humax was supplying antenna power to a masthead amplifier. The workaround was to take the box to someone elses house where the installation did not require aerial power and it immediately updated. The long term fix will be to update the loader via the serial port.

Cannot select “installation” on my Humax PVR.
Is it recording or playing? Wait until it stops and then do a manual tune.

Would you like a walk through of using the command prompt to see if that works for you?

I’d like to add some weight to this issue as it needs fixing.
Posting to a Forum doesn’t add weight; contact Humax about it.
