The manual says that I can connect the PVR to a PC by using an RS-232C cable. This seems a lot easier than connecting the hard disk directly or will this not work?
You can indeed connect it to a PC with a serial cable but this is used almost exclusively for firmware updates and I am pretty certain that humaxrw needs to access the Humax drive as a disk device; I know of no way of doing that via RS-232.

I have had a PVR-9300T for over two years now but recently the Time Shift Recording has stopped working and I am unable to pause live TV. The hard disk has 13% free. I’ve tried updating the software and resetting to factory settings but TSR still does not work.
The buffers that are used by time shifting have become corrupt. The easy fix is to format the drive but this will of course delete all your recordings. The alternative is to open the box, connect the drive to a PC and use an undocumented option of humaxrw to fix the problem.

I am considering purchasing the Humax HDR-FOXT2 and I am wondering if anyone can tell me if this model suffers with same problem that the Humax PVR 9300T appears to suffer from ie; The Late Running bug, by which I mean if two recordings are scheduled one to start when the first is due to finnish, if the first program runs overtime it stops recording when the second program is due to start, thereby cutting off the end of the first program.
I am aware of the problem you describe on the SD models but I haven’t seen any evidence of it in 16 months use of an HDR.

Are there any additions to TV Portal on the horizon?
Over on hummy.tv it is reported that there are improvements to Sky Player in 1.02.27 but these are not yet exposed to the user with the standard firmware but there is clearly development going on.

As for retunes, yes several times what with all these digital switch overs. All factory default retunes.
Do you (or did you immediately after tuning) have channels above 800?

ParticipantSounds like you have done the obvious things. What qre the IP addresses of the laptop and the Humax? Can you ping the Humax from the laptop?

Would trying to load HD FOX T2 firmware instead of HDR FOX T2 firmware result in the firmware update being ignored?
Yes I think so; it certainly wouldn’t load it. On the earlier SD boxes attempting to load an incorrect version would produce an E-ID error.

I have a Humax HDR Fox T2 and since the update to digital last week have lost a number of programmes set up to record – Coro tonight and Have I got news for you on Friday and again last night when I tried to catch up – help! They all say recording failed, unable to track programme.
I would guess you need to do a manual tune; see http://myhumax.org/forum/topic/transmitters#post-2336

hi all, as in the title, recording from BBC3 some programs skip, and fro some reason 3 out of 4 times it has fail to record deal or no deal.
Is the Deal or No Deal recording made when the box is in standby? Are there any other recordings scheduled before and/or after it.

Thought the Humax had a modulator built in, but maybe not then.
The SD models have a built in modulator but the later HD models do not.

What’s the reason for that then? It works 90% of the time and some of the failed recordings have been on muxes other than the BBC mux.
The EPG data is per transmitter.
I only have BBC 1 London in 800 range. Everything else was tuned in mux by mux on Crystal Palace frequencies (other than initial manual tune for BBC 1 South only ffrom Hannington) to prevent any population in 800 range.
Close but no cigar.
Will it cure the incomplete EPG?
Should do but some people have reported that a reset to default settings before tuning to a single transmitter is necessary to completely fix the problem so you might as well do that before retuning.

As our antenna points to London and they are lower in the channel list, our preference has been to stick with Crystal Palace but as we can get a decent signal of BBC South through the rear of our aerial, I have tuned that as our BBC1 as it is more relevant news.
If you want accurate recording to work then you can only receive from a single transmitter. Your options are to retune to a single transmitter or to use padding instead of accurate recording. Formatting the disk will not help in your case.

ParticipantPresumably so that it is ready when the box is announced.
