According to this site and the Humax site the latest software is FHTCP 1.02.20, but looking in the system info of my box it says FHTCP 1.02.26
Is there another release out there somewhere? Is there a different version for the 1TB version I’ve got?
There is a version 1.02.27 on the Humax beta site which is very similar to your 1.02.26 but neither have been released OTA. See Link to Humax beta site. All the HDR versions use the same software.

With the HDR on Martin. I went thro’ the power stand-by hoop earlier and am aware of the different settings. Is this a unit fault?
I don’t know. I saw something a bit similar when we had a 9200 connected to the same aerial as an HDR but the problem went away at DSO. Perhaps worth talking to Humax support on the phone.

Really? This is still their most recent product, and the whole point of the Portal surely is to provide longer-term feature upgrades.
Why do you think that? It is advertised as providing specific functionality and at least one part of that functionality has never been made publicly available.

The Humax that freezes on Wednesdays at 10am:
Software Version UPTTF 1.00.19
Loader a4.38
System ID 3023.0000
Update date Mar 8, 2010
OK so that is the problem. Does the 9300 that freezes get put into standby overnight? The System ID is correct. Your options are to wait for the next OTA update or spend a few pounds on a cable and USB to serial adapter to apply the update from a PC.

Does the T2 do PIP like my old Topfield and new Digital Stream do?
No.

Is there any reason for the loop-through aerial feed to be giving what seems to be an unreasonable loss of signal?
Is this with the HDR on, ,n which case I don’t have anexplaation, or with the HDR off in which case you merely need to disable the power saving in standby?

Being new to tihis, how do Humax deal with new services? Do they issue new software to provide new services as they come along, or do they want people to trade up to new models for new functionality?
Historically speaking, Humax have a very good track record of adding significant functionality to their boxes during the product life. However the Foxsat is a fairly old design so I wouldn’t expect a great deal of added functionality.

I have a Humax box which I purchased from Ebay about 6 months ago. I am quite happy with it apart from the fact the picture on my TV is not 100% clear – a little cloudy on some programmes I would say. Also it seems to have a permanently ‘wide-screen’ look. I have tried to alter this with the remote but there isn’t much selection.
It would help if you told us which model. The picture should be very good. Is your box connected to the TV by SCART or HDMI?
My main question today is I advised my mother to get a ‘Humax’ for ease of recording etc… she also bought one on Ebay this week. She had installed it but said her picture was ‘tiny’ and she could get it any larger so she uninstalled it.
She is probably looking at the preview picture in the guide. Tell her to press Exit.

Couple of questions… Does the Foxsat product ‘do’ ITV Player and 4OD, as well as iPlayer?
It does ITV Player but not 4OD.
I’ve seen mention that these devices are essentially Linux boxes under the cover… Does this mean that people are developing ‘open software’ updates to deliver new features etc?
Yes there is custom firmware for the Foxsat which adds features but it does not extend to adding new players.

I have just received a Humax 9200T (off ebay). Very happy to have it up and running – it’s great, wish I could say the same for the manual.
What software version is it running? Have you formatted the disk (from the HDD control menu) which would be a sensible thing to do with a second hand unit.

However I later discovered each recording had overwritten previous recorded programmes – seemingly chosen at random – so that the previous programme was listed twice but when you played either option it was the new recording. Equally deleting one deleted both. Hence the older recording is lost.
Your file system has become corrupted (a common problem) and I think it is coincidence that it has coincided with DSO. The easiest fix is to format the drive which unfortunately will delete all the recordings.

Software should be the latest version. If I remember correctly it checks for latest version during set up.
How could it do that? Software is not broadcast continuously.

multiplex? Hmm , best re read the FAQ again.
Would an auto tune again help?
Probably not. What is it about the manual tuning instructions that you are finding difficult?

Thanks – do I have to do EVERY channel or can I just focus on one?
To do it properly you have to do every multiplex so typically a total of 6 channels to tune.

I do a default reset, it works until the next Wednesday at 10 and freezes.
What software versions are the two boxes running?
