Martin, do we know if the problem restoring recordings to the hard disk occurs only when using ts2hrw or does it also occur when not using recovery mode?

I think it occurs in both cases. As I recollect one of the users reporting the problem had a full list of programs but was trying to fix a problem with the timeshift buffer.

The recordings are encrypted by default and can only be replayed on the box that recorded them. Sorry.

I didn’t understand the oz bit in the OP.

The OP says he has an HDR 7500T and I assume is based in Australia.

    2. You might be able to do this with the custom firmware but without it you have to wait until the recording has ended before you can watch it on the other box.

Is there custom firmware for the Australian equivalent of the HDR?

Still a bit confused about the power/lid situation. If I remove the lid, detach the connections then attach the data and power cables from the USB adaptor, as you detailed, and then continue with the process is this not running it with the lid off?

You are not applying power to the Humax only to the hard drive so there is no risk of damaging the Humax power supply.

May sound silly but Martin mentions not running the machine with the lid off so do I need to replace it after attaching the USB adapter and before starting the next step?

Assuming you have bought an adapter with its own power supply then there is no need to apply power to the Humax with the lid off.

I’m not really familiar with using the command prompt. After I have typed something in e.g. cd humaxrwdir do I need to press anything (e.g. enter) before typing the next entry?

Yes press enter after entering each command.

It looks as though 290GB of my memory has been used on the humax and I only have 118GB free in my C drive. Am I able to connect my external hard drive and then run the whole thing onto/from this?

    Yes.

From what you are saying am I right to take it that it is best to run the diagnostic tool first and then follow Martins instructions?

    Yes.

None of the buttons on the box or remote work, so I can’t even get into the menu to do a factory reset.

Try turning the Humax off, disconnect the aerial and then start it up without the aerial. Does this allow you to do a reset to default settings?

I thought the issue was caused by starting a delete and then powering the box off at the mains?

I wasn’t aware that anybody had explained what triggers this problem.

I love my humax but where is ITV Player, I have Boxoffice 365 and BBc iPlayer but no ITV Player Software version up to date, advice appreciated

You might want to start by telling us what model of Humax you own.

Have you tried to see if the permanent deleting problem has gone?

I’ve connected the crossover network cable and get an Unidentified network.

    Good.

I have telent client enabled on the laptop and tried running it on the command line, but get the message:

    C:>telnet 192.0.2.100

Connecting to 192.0.2.100…Could not open connection to the host, on port 23:Connection failed

What is the IP address of your notebook? Have you set the IP address of the Humax to 192.0.2.100?

No – it isn’t connected to our home network and is about 30m from the router. Looks like getting a crossover network cable is the route to go (no pun intended).

Temporarily move the Humax next to the router to delete the offending file.

I have tried moving to version 1.01.09 and while the * Deleting… message goes, SO DOES THE SOUND ON MANY OF THE EXISTING RECORDINGS!!! (Same problem or another issue with 1.01.09???)

    Different issue.

Just a thought, but if this problem is fixed by deleting a file or the contents of a directory:

    rm /mnt/hd1/filebglastop.dat

    – could this command not be added to the install procress for the firmware??

A similar idea (adding it to a reset to default settings) has been suggested to Humax.

Anyway, I guess I am left with having to telnet to the HUMAX box and delete the file manually.

Can someone point me to detailed instructions of what I need to do please to get to the point where I can type in the rm command? – Especially what cables I will need to connect my laptop to the humax box.

Is your Humax connected to your home network? If not the easiest way is to temporarily connect it using a standard network cable. If that isn’t feasible then you could temporarily connect the Humax and a PC using a crossover network cable and manually set IP addresses.

Let us know how you get on.

Any suggestions on how to retrieve them?

The easiest way to recover them would be to install the custom firmware and then use the xyz321,s fix-disk package.

i have done a reset and software reset and still nothing. the ‘installation’ option in the main menu is also unselectable.

Turn it off and then on again.

i am hoping there is a quick fix

The quick fix is format the disk from the HDD control menu but this will of course remove all possibility of recovering the existing recordings.

my next worry at this stage is there is no actual guide to doing this, most say ‘connect to a pc’ but how is this done. some talk of special cables, usb cables, sata cables, or can i just take the disk out and put it in my pc. i already have a sata card with extra external ports.

You can connect it direct to a PC with the correct SATA port.

i have also heard that the 9300 doesn’t transfer back very well!

There is a reported (but unverified) problem with putting recordings back on the 9300 but the author of humaxrw is prepared to work with a 9300 owner to try and fix any problem.
