Does the FOXSAT support MPG playback directly or do I need to use AV2HDR (I had assumed since the FOX-T2 played them directly then so would the FOXSAT).

I think you need to use AV2HDR to create the sidecar files for the FOXSAT.

I have enabled all file sharing and network discovery, but still I cannot see my PC on the HDR-1000s.

Is Media Streaming enabled on the PC?

Is that the longest list of improvements we have ever seen for a Humax software update?

I have a foxsat HD box. Since connecting it to my broadband router with a network cable the unit hangs when switched on, at the factory bootloader screen. If I disconnect the network cable and restart the unit it works fine.

Have you tried plugging it into a different port on the router? Have you tried interposing a network switch between Foxsat and router?

I have reserved a recording both manually and epg and some have only recorded for 30 mins of a 2 hour film.No conflicting recordings to cause. This is an intermit’fault.Anyone any suggestions please.

Which Humax box do you have? Can you give a specific example of a failed recording (program, channel, date, time)?

I see from another post it is possible to copy off the files onto a pc. Is that the humaxrw program?

Yes humaxrw is the only way to do it. It is straightforward if you are used to command line programs. If not there is a GUI front end for it available.

I would hate to lose what I have on there. I record lots of programs then take it with me in the caravan for 4-5 months in europe.

I don’t think your symptoms exactly match the classic signs of a corrupt file system but I can’t think what else would explain your observations and all sorts of odd behaviour turns out to be due to file system corruption. If you can spare the time downloading everything from the Humax would give you a safety net.

it seems to be randomly going through the motions of recording single or series link programs so they appear in the list. When selected and OK is pressed, the little preview window flashes “exit” on a black screen and nothing plays.

I don’t think the evidence is conclusive but the most likely explanation is the file system becoming corrupted. At the moment I wouldn’t do anything about it but if you symptoms such as recordings appearing under the wrong name or the same program apparently being recorded several times then you can be confident the problem is the file system. The fix is to Format the disk from the HDD Control item in the Record menu. I would suggest watching any important recordings ASAP just to be on the safe side.

Just performed the process without any problem. Permanent deleting message gone now.

For the benefit of others who read this thread could you give a bit more detail about the process. (I understand the theory but haven’t actually had to do it myself so far (fingers crossed)).

All seemed well with the Firmware update and modified Firmware installation but no success with connecting to the Humax IP address. TV Portal is working (does it need to be connected during the operation?) and the laptop is connected to same wi-fi router.

First question is does it show the custom firmware version when bringing the box out of standby? How are you trying to connect (web browser, telnet etc)? The TV portal does not need to be connected whilst accessing the Humax.

    Yes, success!!

    Excellent.

Occasionally would re-tune the Humax PVR 9300 automatically thinking you have to keep doing this.

It doesn’t help you but Humax have recently released a software update for the later HDR-FOX T2 which does a much better job of automatically tuning and eliminates the need for manual tuning for most people.

You are looking for Link to manual tuning instructions. No you don’t tune 100 stations. Freeview works by combining a number of TV channels together and transmitting them as a single multiplex (often shortened to MUX). Typically you will need to tune five multiplexes. Once you have done it once, on subsequent times it will be quicker than an automatic scan.

So I guess I need to delete the file mentioned earlier.. But my question is where can I get the customised firmware that will allow me to Telnet to the Humax, and how do I install it?

Start at http://wiki.hummy.tv/wiki/Main_Page Note that the process has been simplified; just use Maintenance Mode, no need to delete files manually. You install the custom firmware in exactly the same way as a normal firmware update.

I’ve tried again running command prompt as administrator and I’ve managed to find 3 partitions and partition table has been updated.

So can humaxrw now see the files on the disk from the Humax?

But isn’t all of this is futile if I can’t actually do anything about it?

You asked what was happening and the first step is to understand the circumstances.

In recent months, perhaps three or four times now, the recording schedule on my 9300T has been deleted.

Has the box been retuned (each retune will delete the schedule)? Are other settings going back to default settings at the same time the schedule is deleted?
