There should be several different programs there, but there’s just the same repeated program four times over.
These are classic signs of a corrupt file system. Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings but if you don’t do something soon the list of recorded programs will be lost. If Media Controller won’t work, your options are to watch any important recordings or open up the Humax and connect the hard drive direct to a PC and use humaxrw to copy off the recordings before formatting.

Is there any way to record a live programme while you’re watching a recorded one?
Assuming the program you want to record has already started then the only way is to temporarily stop the playback of the recorded program; change to the channel you want to record then press the record button (the one with the red dot on it). You can then restart playback of the recorded program.

Hi our Humax remote control stopped working so we have purchased an universal remote. We have got most things working, but am wondering how can we access our recorded items?
It would help if you could say which model of Humax PVR you have and which make and model of remote you have purchased.

In particular, the picture quality just isn’t as good as my old machine. It’s not terrible, it’s not unwatchable by a long chalk, but it’s just not very good.
Under Menu>Preferences>TV-SCART is it set to RGB? Have you got the TV plugged into the TV SCART rather than the VCR SCART? Display quality should be good.

from the point of view of DLNA server, sad to say I have not the foggiest what you mean.
The easiest (but probably not best) DLNA server is Windows Media Player. Try Link to setting up DLNA server
It seems this is not possible
It is possible, see above.
What is this ‘Custom Firmware’ that you refer to?
See Link to Custom firmware intro
Is it as easy to install as it was updating the firmware via USB stick?
Exactly the same process but you will need to do some reading to understand the capabilities.
The reference to PowerDVD was just the playing of files from PC to monitor, via LAN, not playing via the Humax.
I was trying to give you a warning that if you were ever to turn on Content Sharing on the Humax it would mysteriously start to crash; never mind.

If I go to ‘Network’ it comes up with my computer’s name, and several others on the network, but I cannot get ‘inside’ the thing to individual drives, folders and files. If I click OK on “Terrys” it just sits there….. Am I really waiting for something to happen that it cannot do?
With the standard firmware you cannot look at shares. The HDR is a DLNA client and server. You can look at content on the PC providing the PC is running a DLNA server. Alternatively you could install the custom firmware which gives a much wider range of networking methods and would allow you to do what you want. By the way there is a known incompatibility between Power DVD (not sure if it only applies to certain versions) and the DLNA server in the Humax which will cause the HDR to crash shortly after coming out of standby if the DLNA server is enabled (Content Share on in the Menus).

I will wait till Tuesday and Ring Humax, they may have an update or something.
This is a very well known problem; by all means ring Humax but the advice you have been given is the only known remedy.

I am 60 years old, and only have a laptop. I have no idea how to do that or even where to start.
I am a lot older than you but I have been working with computers for a very long time. The first calculator I had was not until I had graduated from university. If this is beyond you either pay somebody to do it for you or just format the drive from the HDD Control menu item in the Record menu. Don’t leave it as it is or things will quickly go wrong again.

yes sorry it is an old 9150T, Recorded something tonight and that is there.
OK this is a well known problem. As you suspect the recordings are still on the disk. The only way to get them back is to open the Humax, connect the disk drive to a PC (typically using a USB to SATA adaptor), then use humaxrw in recovery mode (-r command line option) to copy them to a PC. See Link to humaxrw

My 9300T has started cutting off the first 30 – 60 seconds of programs it records.
Every program, some programs or a few? What channels? Give some specific examples of programs with a start delayed by 60 seconds which is very unusual.
isn’t there some general way of getting them to start recording everything just a minute or so earlier by default without losing series link?
No. For what it is worth, the later Humxa HD models implement accurate recording much better.

I contacted Humax tech support and have been given a link httpp://myhumax.org/blog/?page_id=153them and told to connect my humax to my lap top via a cable and it will download the recordings to my computer but still not sure what cable to use.
So they are I assume suggesting you use humaxrw (which is the only way to do it). You will need a USB to IDE adaptor such as Link to eBay seller
This comes with a separate power supply which avoids the risks of using the Humax power supply with the lid open (very easy to touch something and destroy the Humax power supply). You will have to use humaxrw in recovery mode (-r command line option).
I was also told by someone else that it would be cheaper to take the hard drive out of the humax and put in a hard drive case and connect with a simple usb lead.
That is an option; it may cost fractionally more and involves slightly more disassembly of the Humax but it is a valid alternative. If you go that route you need a case that will take a 3.5″ drive and with an IDE interface. You will still need to use humaxrw.

Any idea how to overwrite the firmware as uploading same firmware still reports July 2011 install date.
You could install an earlier version of the firmware and then reinstall the latest version but I think it is very unlikely to help with the actual problem.

From NI and having difficulty recording uk channels (under 800) and roi channels (800plus). The EPG recordings in one area disappear when i enter the other section.
This is a situation that the HDr-FOX T2 isn’t designed to handle. However there has been so,e work going on in this area with the custom firmware, Have a look at this thread:http://hummy.tv/forum/threads/custom-firmware-and-ireland-saorview.1142/

My main question therefore is therefore, is there any way of recovering the files by transferring to PC and can they be viewed there (XP or 7)?
The only way to recover them is to open the Humax, attach the disk direct to a PC and use humaxrw in recovery mode (-r command line option). The software can be downloaded from Link to humaxrw More detailed instructions can be provided if required. Once downloaded the recordings can be played on a PC.

Any ideas?
I am seeing the same problem. I would guess it is a problem at the Humax portal that should get resolved quite quickly.
