Have had good service out of my 9150T but last week it lost all my recorded programs, assumed this was due to it’s age and had thought of getting the latest Humax PVR, however it seems this is a common problem no matter what model of Humax you have and even on the latest model there is no facility to connect to broadband unless a cable is used.

Losing all recorded programs is a relatively common problem on the 9200,9150 and 9300 but the box can usually be returned to full health by formatting the disk from the HDD Control menu item in the Record Menu. It certainly isn’t a common problem on the HDR-FOX T2 which can also use a WiFi USB dongle for connection to a network.

One has stopped recording. I can’t do an instant record. I can use the guide to highlight a programme, press OK to register it to record, and get asked if I want a single programme or the series. It then appears on the Recording Schedule.

I would suspect that file system has become corrupt; if that is the case then the fix is to watch any important recordings and then format the drive from the HDD Control menu item on the Record Menu.

I have just purchased a Humax Box.

    Which model of Humax box?

As soon as I run the TV through the Humax box the signal is very bad. I can get BBC and ITV on the 800 channels but very few of the freeview channels.

It sounds as though you need to manually tune the box. Somebody will point you at the correct instructions when you tell us which box.

H What is the largest hdd that can be fitted to the 9300t? How do i install the software on the new hdd?

I think units bigger than 1TB have refused to format. You need to consider whether it is worth going bigger than about 500MB as (regardless of disk size) there is a maximum limit of 512 recordings. There is no software stored on the disk so it should just be a matter of installing the new drive turning on the 9300 and answering Yes to the prompt to format the drive.

Martin – hi – yes it is 100.26 – so that is the latest – fine.

If nothing goes faulty in your opinion should the box still work ok for a few more years or is it “almost” obsolete?

There is a known consecutive recording bug with 1.00.26 but it should give reasonable service for several years. We are still using a 9200 which is even older than the 9150 and it is till giving good service.

the last update on my box was July 2011 – it was then stored and not used until I bought it this week.

I assume this is version 1.00.26 which is the latest available version. The box will still receive new updates but I think it is now doubtful whether there will be any further developments.

I can confirm I have an Administrator command window. When I first tried HumaxRW (in an ordinary cmd window) the message was a plain:

    Quote:
    Permission denied

With an Administrator command window it is now:

    Quote:
    FAT: Permission denied

OK. So what command are you issuing?

However, when I run HumaxRW (or HumaxCheck) all I get is the message:

    “FAT: Permission denied”

Can anyone advise what the message means, and how to progress beyond it? I’m running the programs from an Administrator CMD shell. Platform is Windows 7 64-bit.

You probably need to be running as Administrator. Start>All programs>Accessories then rather than left clicking on Command prompt, right click and select “Run as administrator” (note this is necessary even if the logged on user has Administrative privileges).

We have a Samsung UE39F5300UK TV, this has the facility to control power on/off channels up/down.

When setting up the foxsat-HDR there are veriants shown as

    foxsat-HDR (mode 1) & so on.

How do I find if it is a “mode” veriant?

I think this is probably a reference to the capability to change the remote control frequency to enable two or more Humax products to be used in the same room. The default will be mode 1. To check try this FAQ http://myhumax.org/forum/topic/multi-code-function-hdhdr-remote-1

Is it better for my above issue in general, was there something added to the custom fw that helps?

Not as far as I know. You will only get any benefit from the custom firmware if you use a web browser to access its user interface. It is important to understand that it doesn’t replace the standard firmware, it works alongside it to give extra functionality.

has anyone else had any issues involving playback freezing?

I would suspect the disk drive is knackered. Try connecting it to a PC and running Seagate Seatools for DOS.

At present I have multiple copies of most channels and no idea which has the best signal.

    (My transmitter is pontop pike)

    Software is: FHTCP 1.02.29 5/july/2012

The easiest fix for this problem would be to download and install version 1.02.32 of the software from http://beta.humaxonline.co.uk/downloads/hdr-foxt2 which significantly improves automatic tuning in circumstances such as yours. Alternatively do a manual tune following the instructions at http://myhumax.org/forum/topic/transmitters#post-2336
