I put the drive than came out of the 2000t into an external “caddy” and it showed as exfat format.

Sorry I can’t explain that but the Humax needs Ext3.

When you changed your drive did you format it externally or just install it and let the Humax “sort it out”?

I just installed it and the Humax formatted it.

I checked the format of the old 3.5” drive that came with the 2000t and it is a standard exfat format.

How did you check? I have just checked the hard drive I removed from an HDR-2000T and it has three partitions which are all formatted as Ext3.

Anyone any ideas why this formatting procedure seems to destroy the hd format when I reconnect it to my max to check the format??

Forgive my ignorance but what do you mean by “max”?

From memory you may need to move a jumper on the Sata drive, to reduce its speed.

    go for a lower number.

Reducing the SATA speed is required for the FOXSAT HDR but I don’t recall it being necessary for an HDR-1800T. I have fitted a SATA III drive to an HDR-2000T without any problem.

I want to replace the hard drive on my 1800t Humax but I cannot seem to get the new drive to format! The Humax is telling me that the new drive is ok but just will not format it!

What make and model of hard drive are you trying to use?

I have this problem too. My sound source is a Panasonic “ Home theatre“ surround sound 5.1 box. last night I found I could get sound on some live tv channels but not on others. turning everything off and on fixed the problem but only temporarily

Please give some examples of which channels work and which don’t work?

I’ve copied some recordings to my PC, and deleted them from the FVP.

As a test to prepare for the eventual transfer, on my PC I’ve clicked on a copied ‘.mpeg’ program, selected “Copy”, then clicked on the FVP in Explorer (described as “FVP-5000T DMS xxx.xxx.x.xx” “Media Server”), but the “Paste” option on this device is greyed out.

You certainly can’t copy them back via the DMS (really a DLNA server) server which is read only. On the Aura there is an upload directory that can be accessed via FTP but I think this is intended only for recordings copied off the Aura. The easiest way to access recordings from the FVP is to copy then to USB storage, attach the USB drive to the Aura, install VLC on the Aura and you will then be able to play the recordings on the Aura. Maybe someone else has found a better way of doing it?

We seem to have the same problem with a FVP-5000T, quite often it shows no program information, usually it corrects itself over a period of 2-3hrs but is a pain, would I be right in thinking a factory reset would wipe out all the programs we have recorded ?

Your thinking is incorrect; existing recordings will only be deleted if you specifically request it. The schedule of future recordings will be deleted.

Also would this be connected to recordings starting say 5-10mins after the actual program is being broadcast, this usually happens in the afternoon as well as recordings breaking up when trying to watch them. We are based in Hampshire so the transmitter is Rowridge which says there no faults.

I would suggest the first thing to try is to do an automatic channel search with the Smart Retune option off and see if that fixes the problem (again this will delete the schedule of future recordings).

I’m upgrading from an FVP-5000T to an Aura, and want to copy old recordings across.

As an intermediate step, I’ve enabled “Network Server” on the FVP, and I’m copying files (recordings)to my Windows 11 PC.

In theory I could watch the recordings on my PC, and although I can see the picture, there’s no sound!

A little research implies that I need a CODEC on my PC to fully enable playback, but which one?

It may be easier to install VLC which in my experience plays Humax recordings without requiring any addons. If you want to go the CODEC route then try the K-Lite Codec pack at https://codecguide.com/download_k-lite_codec_pack_mega.htm which I think I have used in the past.

I still have content on my FVP5000T – is there a simple way to copy that content to my new Aura so I can retire/reuse my FVP5000T?

It depends whether the content is SD or HD. Both are stored with encryption but the encryption can be removed from SD recordings by copying to an attached USB drive (see https://myhumax.org/forum/topic/how-to-archive-recordings-to-usb-hdd) or by copying to a Windows 10 or 11 computer using these instructions: “On the FVP In Advance settings>Server management turn on the “Network server” (this is actually the DLNA server) and set a time period each day where you want the server to be available. On a Windows 10 computer, start Windows Explorer, select This PC, scroll down to Network (NB don’t click on Network) and you should see HUMAX FVP DMS xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx which is the DMS server, right click on it and select Open. (for Windows 11 you may need to activate the DLNA client “DNLA is included in Windows 11, but it needs to be activated. but so far activation hasn’t helped. Control Panel >> Network and sharing centre >> Media streaming options >> activate FVP-5000T”)

Do you know of any other devices that will work with scart?

You could try an HDMI to SCART adapter such as https://www.amazon.co.uk/Converter-Adaptor-Convert-digital-Support/dp/B08DNH9TJS/ I found a review for a similar product suggesting that it worked for someone. At least if you buy the Firestick and converter from Amazon then there shouldn’t be a problem returning them if they don’t work.

I don’t think it is a surprise. The workaround would be to buy an Amazon Firestick (costs from £35) or similar device which will give you iPlayer plus a range of other streaming services.

For the last few weeks, all of my series recordings have been failing due to power loss (the message reads: “recording failed due to loss of power”). If I go to look at these failed recordings, the screen is totally black and the timestamp shows that no time elapsed (e.g. if the recording was due to start at 19:30, the timestamp will show as “19:30-19:30”).

The first thing I would try is an automatic tune with the Smart Tune option off. This will delete your schedule of future recordings but I don’t think they will magically start working again without you doing something.
