Following MontysEvilTwin’s advice (25 Jan, 11:53) the first command was apparently successful but the resukt of the second was rm: can’t remove ‘/mnt/hdl/filebglastop.dat’: No such file or directory.

    Command should be:

rm /mnt/hd1/filebglastop.dat ie the character after hd is a numeric one “1” not a lower case “l”

Is there any way to change one of the remote codes for these models?

Please don’t post the question multiple places. I am not aware of a way of changing remote codes.

I can delete the failed recordings OK.

I think you misunderstand, Graham was (I think) suggesting that you delete the channels from the incorrect multiplexes. A better idea might be to manually tune using the instructions at Link tomanual tuning FAQ

    Humax 1100S 1Tb

As soon as it had completed the update it returned to pink. During start up when after I completely unplugged it the Humax Logo screen was normal colour then went pink when started up.

Any ideas before I return it for refund and go back to Sky?

Have you tried adjusting the TV settings for the HDMI port the Humax is connected to?

Presumably you knew that when you bought it. All the Freeview+ boxes from the 9200 on and the Foxsat-hdr can export SD.

Being picky, the 9150 and 9300 could not export SD.

Ping fails but display shows Custom Firmware 3.03 on boot. HDR IP when last seen was 192.168.1.2

If ping is failing then telnet has no chance. If you look at the router is the light for the port the Humax is connected to illuminated (and similarly for the PC)? This still feels to me like a networking problem rather than a hardware issue on the Humax.

With DHCP turned off the “Network Status” shows as follows, the wireless did show as connected in this scenario.

    “Local Area Network” = Connected

    “Internet” = Disconnected

If the IP address not being assigned was causing the problem I would have thought it would show the same result as having DHCP turned off.

I take it that when entering a manual IP address you are setting the gateway address correctly?

Thanks for the tip, but I have failed three times to log-in. All attempts started from cold with the HDR having had no power for at least one hour beforehand. Is it time to give up?

So when you can’t login, can you ping the Humax? Is the Custom Firmware version being shown on the front panel as the box boots?

The HDR IP was 192.168.1.2. I uaed Putty to reach the first Putty window and selected Maintenance Mode, Option 1. This was shown on the HDR display. However, logging on via Putty the second time did not work, no ethernet connection.

Oh dear. What happens if you ping 192.168.1.2 ? Perhaps try power cycling the Humax.

Quite a hassle I thought, that is until today when I browsed this forum for how to connect newer devices. The SAMBA solution looks to be a real hassle.

My need is to transfer files when I have about 100Gb of programs. How long might that take on a modern device over USB?

Today 100Gb took me about an hour on my 9200 using the above method.

I would guess it would take significantly longer as the need to decrypt really slows it down. However if you are only copying off to allow formatting and then replacing the files then you could use the built in FTP server which should be significantly faster. Also the Linux EXT3 file system used by the later boxes is a lot more robust than the 9200 file system so would be less likely to require formatting.

    Any thoughts?

Is the box tuned so that it is only receiving from a single transmitter?

Well Martin, since I sit 4m from my TV then SD is fine and the method you mention above sounds easy to me; just connect a memory card or USB external disk, then via Humax menu select transfer to disk?

Yes. Any USB attached storage formatted with FAT32, EXT2/3 or for the more recent boxes NTFS will be fine; a memory card won’t work.

Does not seem necessary to use the FOX t2 custom firmware.

    Or am I missing something?

The transfer to USB storage isn’t very quick but if this is an occasional requirement that shouldn’t be a problem.

Hi – anyone got any ides why the AUTO setting on recording start timings is sometimes very accurate (Still Open All Hours) and not others (Silent Witness). I’m imagining that the command to start is in the broadcast signal – but I’m not up on this sort of thing.

Our recording of last nights Silent Witness started at 09:02 pm which was at Channel ID display just before the start of the program (ie precisely correct). When did your recording start?

I’ve added 5 minutes to the start and end timings and will see what happens.

Which Humax box do you have? The early implementations of Accurate Recording were not perfect but on the later boxes it works very well on the major channels (Channel 5 excepted) and for us is significantly better than adding padding.

I need to be able to transfer programs to my PC. Can all the new Freeview models do this easily?

That would depend on your definition of easily; all the Freeview models encrypt both SD and HD content. The Freeview models (but not Youview) will decrypt and transfer Standard Definition content to attached USB storage. The FVP4000T is reported to decrypt and transfer SD over the network via a SAMBA share (but with some quirks). The easiest way is with the obsolete HDR-FOX T2 with Custom Firmware but the methods used are not a subject for discussion on this Forum.

It shows only one of the three ethernet ports is connected – to the laptop on the ethernet part of my network. I think the ethernet i/o device in the Humax has failed.

Clearly that is possible but in my experience it is far more likely to be a cable fault or a connector not seated properly. If necessary move the Humax close to the router and use a short cable and see if that helps.
