Keep getting error message “the programme cannot be viewed via HDMIconnection because your TV does not support digital content protection
etc” yet it works for a while. Also, no sound for the last 24 hours along with the above error messageWhat software version is the Humax using and what make and model of TV?

Can anyone tell me if the HUMAX HDMI Output will support an Ethernet connection. The latest HDMI Cables can provide this capability, enabling you to route the Ethernet between units connected by HDMI cable at Version 1.4 or greater.
Pretty sure the answer is no.

Would it be worth doing a factory reset and reformat the drive when everything is backed up just in case ?
I would start just by doing the factory reset; if that doesn’t help then yes a reformat might help.

I don’t recall these issues ever being reported on th HDR Fox T2.
It would be interesting to know whether the late production HDR-FOX T2s with the revised tuner arrangement suffer from this problem.

Very disappointed with this device.
Start by telling us what model of Humax device you own.

Perhaps it needs some new PSU capacitors?
I think a few have tried that without success but it is an odd problem that doesn’t affect the earlier 9200T which uses similar software so I do suspect a hardware issue; my best guess is that the flash RAM used to store the schedule and settings is wearing out.

So I am at a loss as to what to do now.
Has anyone any suggestions please?
There are many reports of this problem, see for instance Link to thread on loss of recording schedule. I don’t know of a permanent fix.

OK so pull off the HDD connector (SATA?) and power and plug into a new HDD.
Does the drive get formatted by the box on rebooting then?
Yes.
Any maximum size of HDD?
2TB.

But do you also need a splitter at the TV to take the output from the Humax?
No; the output from the Humax is either HDMI or SCART.

I have my box turn on at 05:30 in the week to wake me up gently. However, after it’s automatically turned on, the guide button or recorded program button doesn’t work. I have to put it to standby and turn it on again. Is this normal?
Clearly it is a bug but it has been reported before.

If you wonder about the troubles with my network, when the HDR would not connect via ethernet, that was true even with the HDR connected to the router by a 1m cable. During the course of the repairs, the ethernet connection became active; it is now possible to connect through homeplugs with the HDR in the next room.
That is the bit I really struggle to understand. I can’t see how a problem with the disk would affect the network connection; love to know what was going on.

I hope someone familiar with linux syntax will create a module to execute the procedure for reading eight consecutive sectors, and overwriting any that return an error, starting from an input LBA. I taught myself to program in Visual Basic 6 about 20 years ago and, as I recall, it should not be very difficult.
Well if you fancy a challenge the full source of fix-disk is available to you at /bin/fix-disk
I suspect the reason it hasn’t been updated recently is that the author xyz321 has other things to do.

Is there any formal method of reporting such issues, or do we rely on the manufacturer to monitor the forum?
You report it to Humax support. There is no evidence that Humax monitor this Forum.
I reported it some weeks ago but there’s certainly no harm in others doing the same.
Precisely. My view is that the thing that is most likely to motivate Humax to take action is a problem that is costing them money; either returned boxes or an excessive number of calls to technical support.
