It’s a wi-fi connection. I should just add that the box was working up until a couple of days ago, and I have no other difficulties with devices accessing the router and the internet.
Have you tried rebooting the router or any WiFi extenders?

I’ve tried a factory reset and an auto retune, but when I press the F button and select ‘Players’, all I get is grey place holders. Nothing. Nada. Zip.
If I press the ‘Netflix’ button on the remote, it struggles to load much, and when it does, it tells me I’m not connected to the internet, although I’ve checked and rechecked the ‘Network Status’ which says all is OK.
How is the FVP-5000T connected to the Internet (WiFi, network cable, Powerline adapters etc)?

I see that at the time of writing this.
All Humax box’s seems to be out of stock everywhere.
Which, has meant in previous years that there is a new Model about to be released.
I think it means one of two things: either Humax are abandoning the UK PVR market or your theory. Is there anyone in the know who can tell us what is happening?

I am the owner of Humax FVP-4KGTR/GB/1TB Freeview recorder which I bought 3 years ago. Not sure if anyone else owns this particular model as there seems to be many of them
It is better known as the Humax Aura and a fair number of people here own one, me included.

I have an old Humax box that has worked fine until recently…
It now has the following faults.
1 It will not accept my postcode
2 It will not find a signal on the Freesat Tune.
3 It will find a signal on the manual tune, but only shows American programmes in English.
The first thing I would check is the LNB attached to the dish. Your symptoms don’t sound to me like hard drive problems.

I've just bought 2x Aura 4K 1TB and I am quite surprised to see the version of Android and also the patch version.
I am contemplating to send this back – I work in the IT security space, so not to see good security patch management or bug fixes since 2021 is a bad reflection on Humax.
Nobody here is going to argue with you; we all feel disappointed that Humax abandoned the software developmenton the Aura too soon.

Is this a device fault, a software error, an HDMI cable fault or something else?
It is a software error and it affects some users more than others. There is one thing you could try to avoid needing to power cycle; you might want to watch this youtube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VbT1XRRfWXE It helps in some cases.

New TV finds and recognises the humax box on HDMI 1 (or any other HDMI input) menu works but most channels don’t.
I would have a look at the available settings on the TV for HDMI port 1. Some really odd settings such as HDR have been known to cause this problem.

I purchased my FVP 5000T on 06/2020, recently my recorder only records one week of my scheduled programs while i’m on holiday. it has the latest software UKTFAE1.03.54.
That sounds to me as though the guide is not getting updated. Do you have any thoughts about why that might be?

ParticipantThere are various options for recording unencrypted HD content (which aren’t Freeview licensed) that might do what you want but discussion on that topic isn’t within the rules of this forum and I have no personal experience of them.

I wasn’t aware HD recordings were encrypted, that could be annoying. The Aura must decrypt on-the-fly when you network stream then?
It has to decrypt on the fly however they are played (even direct to the TV) but it is quick because it is done in hardware on the Aura. To stream HD programmes requires a device at the other end that understands the DTCP-IP protocol.
Can you point me in the direction where to learn more… even if just terms to google/search in the manual?
I can’t make any useful suggestions; you just have to google away until you get on the right trail.

But I am setting up a Synology NAS drive and I had thought, if I did a nightly ‘backup’ from Aura -> NAS then I could play them back far more reliably through the NAS apps, Plex, whatever.
I am guessing that because Aura supports FTP I should be able to do this using rsync or something… not used it in anger before though.
I think you will need to experiment to find what works. Keep in mind that HD recordings will not be playable because of encryption.
I don’t suppose anyone here has done anything like this, even just to backup their shows?
There have certainly been reports of people doing this with FTP and even some reports of being able to restore them to the Aura (although the process isn’t immediately obvious).

I’m new here so forgive me if this is a daft question.
It is certainly not a daft question but to start with we need to know which model of Humax PVR you own?
When I call the EPG I find it’s just an unpopulated shell. If I scroll forward the times and programs come up and are selectable. I would care, but recordings are being missed now.
Has this started recently? Have you tried putting the Humax into standby, waiting until the hard drive has stopped spinning and then turning off the mains supply for 30 seconds and the restarting?

I have a Humax 1800T bought at the end of last year. The internal hard drive is becoming full and there are some recordings which I’d like to keep.
I want to connect an external hard drive to the 1800T via the USB port at the back of the PVR. This would allow me to copy over my recordings and free up space on the 1800T.
I want to be able to play the archived recordings on my TV in the future.
Can anyone tell me what type of external hard drive I should buy and in what format it should be so that I don’t lose the programmes?
The most important factor is that as the Humax uses an MBR style partition table, you should aim for a drive no bigger than 2TB. I think (but not certain) that the the HDR-1800T supports the NTFS file system which would be suitable or you can simply let the Humax format the drive for you. I haven’t purchased any external drives for some years so perhaps other members can suggest what works for them.
