I’ve read through lots of posts on the forum, and although I could be wrong I have come to the conclusion that it is power supply related.

Even if the hard drive wasn’t being recognised, I’m sure it should still power up.

Power supply problems are uncommon on the 9300 but clearly it is a possibility. Let us know how it works out. I assume you have tested the disks by connecting to a PC?

Sorry if I have confused the situation but it wasn’t the hard drive powering up it was just the fan.

Plugging in the power to the hd does nothing.

Ok. So with the hard drive disconnected will the box power up and perform as a set top box?

Purchased the identical drive which arrived today, and whilst it powers up for a few seconds, it shuts down when the picture appears.

When you fitted the new hard drive did the Humax offer to format it when next booted up?

Hi faust, So how come then that I have never heard of any other model or HD device with the same problem.

Have you tried googling “HDMI handshake problems”? It brings up an awful lot of hits and none on the first page that I saw related to Humax so I think it is an industry wide problem.

By the way it brought up an interesting guide with some tips I haven’t seen before, seeLink to HDMI trouble shooting guide

I’m hoping that connecting the humax directly to the PC might speed things up.

In my opinion that has absolutely zero chance of working.

I’m going to invest in a 5m usb lead to see if its quicker than the external hdd.

What are you hoping to do with a 5m USB lead?

Hi, just wondered why when using the latest custom fw the update date in settings still shows as 2014 and not 2016?

That is the date of the standard firmware. It is important to understand that the custom firmware does not replace the standard firmware; it runs alongside it to provide additional functionality.

    is that normal?

    Yes.

Wasn’t there also a 1.13 or 1.4 available for linux for people who don’t have a windows 32 machine?

Could that also be added for download?

1.15 exists for Linux and I have a copy that I have offered to Barry.

I have taken the batteries out, only had the box three months

Have you actually fitted new batteries? There have been reports that the batteries Humax are currently supplying with remotes don’t last very long.

Seems there is a fair bit of confusion regarding this topic so maybe worth broadcasting the Humax response.

Hmm, some of the things that Humax support have said in recent times have not been very impressive.

Have checked and it’s the DTR1000.

Is this HumaxRW software available to read the contents of the hard disk?

Humaxrw will not work on a DTR100.

So, to the reason for this post, is there anyone out there that can either a) point me in the right direction to find a download, or b) email me a copy? It would be very much appreciated.

Did you read the post immediately above yours?

There are many posts identifying an application called ‘humaxRW’ only all links, I can find, point to “wikispaces.com/HumaxRW” now expired.

Can a kind member please help by providing me with a badly needed copy of humaxRW?

Until very recently humaxrw was available from the blog on this site. However the blog has now been removed. Send me a PM with your email address and I will provide copies of both Windows and Linux versions.

Hello I have followed Martin liddle’s instructions for installing and running firmware to fix a disk problem. It states it will take several hours which I was prepared for but it has now been running for 8 hours – is this normal?

It all depends on the state of the hard drive. I think the longest time I have seen reported is 5 days but more than 8 hours is long but not exceptional.

Do I just leave it running overnight?

    Yes.

Had this feature on previous Humax boxes but can’t find it on 1100S.Thanks anyone

If the previous Humax box was an 800, 9200, 9150 or 9300 then you might want to try without padding for a test period as the accurate recording feature works much better on the current generation of boxes.
