Going a bit further into the signal strengths on the system page, I found that out of the 7 listed channels, 6 were getting 90%+,
As I seem to say fairly regularly here a signal strength of 90% may be too high; if you have further problems installing a variable attenuator in the aerial feed (or reducing the gain if there is an amplifier in your aerial cabling) may well help.

Welcome to our Forum

Do you have any channels listed in the 800 range?
Are you sure you are only receiving signals from one transmitter?
See how to check and manual retune if necessary:

Barry a better link for an HDR1800T tuning is https://myhumax.org/forum/topic/transmitters#post-2336 which covers the DVB-T/DVB-T2 issue.

I will do as you suggest and acquire a variable attenuator.
Would the easiest/quickest place to get one be ebay?
I got mine for eBay.
Maybe Maplins at a push?
They certainly list a suitable one but you will pay twice as much.

ParticipantThe signal strength and the signal quality on tuner 1 are both currently showing 100%
Both of the above signals vary a bit but they have never dropped below 90%.
I do not have anything attached to increase signal strength. It is what it is.
As the crow flies i am probably only 5 or 6 miles (maybe not even that) from Winter Hill, and my aerial looks straight at that transmitter.
Signal strength of a 90 to a 100% may be too high particularly if the signal quality is dropping below 100%. My advice would be to experiment with a variable attenuator in the aerial feed.

Thanks for your reply Martin, I will try this. Any ides why the aerial would be fine in the tv but not in the Humax? This is what is confusing me!
It has been reported lots of times but I am not clear as to the reason. If you can get the Humax to receive a signal then knowing the signal strength and quality as reported by the Humax would be interesting.

Out of desperation, I tried upstairs again and it works perfectly. I am pretty good with equipment, I had a Topfield PVR and am used to having to fiddle with appliances but this has got me so confused. What on earth am I doing wrong? Can anyone help please?
It still sounds like an aerial cabling problem to me. Work your way through each joint in the cable making sure it is properly made and tight; also check the cable for kinks or any signs of water ingress.

I have just bought a TP Link powerline pair of adaptors and plugged into the router and the humax box. I have entered the Internet settings and connected to the LAN. The box says that it is connected to the internet but when I try to enter the “Humax portal” it displays a message saying it cannot connect to the internet.
What Internet settings have you entered? It should just work without changing anything in most cases. First thing to try is the well known put the Humax in standby, wait until the disk has stopped spinning and then turn off the power for 10 seconds; turn back on and see if it now works.

My Humax 1010s has died with what I assume is a dead hard disk (system starts up, claims device is unformatted then freezes instead of formatting it) It looks like I can get a compatable disk drive for £75 or a whole new box (1100S) for about £100 more, what extra do I get for upgrading?
Are you sure this is not the known issue where the Humax doesn’t recognise the hard drive? If it is that issue Humax will repair the box for £26. Try talking to Humax support on the phone.

Hi everyone, well i have had many years of being really happy with my HDR FOX T2 but the time has come to need a new box, although not really sure at the moment whats out there thats similar?
Could I ask why you want a new box rather than continuing with the HDR-FOX T2?

Having read through this very clear and helpful guide I might try and persuade others it is not worth saving the 10 programmes we have now only got recorded! Then just reformat.
Sounds like a plan to me.

I’ve just fitted an attenuator. Now need to monitor the box to see if it helps. I was wondering what level (strength %) to take it down to. Can’t see anything in the manual to indicate minimum signal strength. I’ve currently got it set at +/- 70%. Any suggestions please.
Signal strength readings tend to vary between the different Humax boxes. On an HDR-FOX T2 anything above 30% works for us but we are quite close to a transmitter; I would say 50% is a very safe lower limit. If the box is performing OK then increasing to 80% would be a reasonable limit but much better that you experiment. In a similar situation to you on a HDR-2000T (in a different location) I found that reducing signal strength to about 80% vastly improved performance but the final fix was to change the amplifier so that I could reduce the gain and remove the attenuator.

If I delete some recorded programmes then the Record Now button and scheduled programmes work. Searched webpages and found refs to HumaxRW etc & downloads.
Do I need to use HumaxHR etc?
If ‘Yes’ where do I find instructions as to how to install/use these programmes please?
I run Win 7 on a laptop.
If ‘No’ what else can I do to record more programmes?
The most likely problem is that your file system is becoming corrupted. You need to do something about it as it will steadily get worse and you will eventually lose all your recordings. The only solution is to format the hard drive from the HDD Control menu item in the Record menu. This will of course delete all your stored recordings. Your options are to watch them first or to use humaxrw to download them before formatting. You can then either play the recordings from a PC or you may be able to put them back on the newly formatted disk. There are lots of threads in the 9150 section of the Forum on using humaxrw. Perhaps start with this one https://myhumax.org/forum/topic/restoring-recordings-and-list-to-humax-pvr-9200t

I got a TV engineer out yesterday and paid £78 just to be told my signal was ‘perfect’. On all three tuners I get >87% Signal Strength and 100% Quality. Someone has suggested that my signal may be too good (really) and is overloading the tuners. Can that be right?
It is certainly possible and I have seen it myself. I would suggest investing in a variable attenuator for the aerial feed to the Humax and see if it helps.
