Yes, there is one 5km away in glossop but it says it’s ‘parent transmitter’ is winter hill and that’s most likely one.
You can probably work out which transmitter is being used by the bearing and polarisation of the aerial (shown as H or V in the Aerial Group column; H signifying the aerial elements should be horizontal and V vertical) .

There isn’t an amplifier on the aerial. Digital uk suggests my most likely transmitter is Winter Hill approc 40km away.
I am surprised that you have such a strong signal from a transmitter 40km away; could you post the first four characters of your post code please?

Support at digital uk suggest the the humax built in aerial amplifier might be the problem making the signal too strong. They advise an aerial attenuator or to switch off antenna power on humax box, if available.
This seems more logical to me, however, the humax support tell me that this model does not have built in signal amplifier – hence advice to manual retune.
Does anyone know if this is correct before a buy an atenuator or have experience/advice on this?
I would agree that the signal strength may be too high. Is there an amplifier in the aerial system eg loft or aerial mounted? It is better to turn off unnecessary amplification than to add an attenuator however if no amplifier then a cheap variable attenuator would be the thing to try. What transmitter do you receive from and how far (roughly) are you from the transmitter?

Using media controller v1.05 99 times out of 100 says error connecting to device. When it actually connects it has been fine. However now when it does connect ‘X’ to transfer operates but ‘A’ for video transfer cannot find the list. However going back and pressing ‘L’ brings up the list!.
Too long ago since I briefly played with Media Controller so I can’t say anything useful; maybe someone else can help.
I connected the disc in an external storage IDE case that outputs USB & tried humaxrw but it could not see it.
Could you explain exactly what you tried (give commands) and the responses to those commands?
Can I connect it to the IDE connector on the motherboard and set it as slave and would it be likely to work then.
Almost certainly not.

First thing to try would be a factory reset.
First thing I would try is putting the box into standby and then turning the mains power off for 10 seconds and then restarting. If that doesn’t work then yes I would agree on the factory reset as the next option.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I have just tried creating a password and without a password and neither works.
Barry can you help with this please.

It seems that I need to use a different username or password?
Have you read the bit in the manual that says “Check if the password is correct. Go to HOME > SETTINGS > Network Settings > File Share and set a new password.”?

I have tried resetting the 4000T, but it still doesn’t work.
I use the correct IP for the 4000T
Have you checked that the FTP server is turned on (on the 4000T))?

I would like to know what TV channels are on each of the UHF channels 23,26,29,31,40,43 & 46
You would need to tell us what transmitter you receive from; channels are different on each main transmitter.

The Humax box switches itself off after one hour, We have tried everything but can’t solve this. It’s very strange that all recordings are fully recorded but on viewing all goes blank at one hour.
Is it exactly an hour or does it differ a bit? What happens to the lights on the box when this happens?

,latest failure says to try changing the video resolution in settings. It is currently set on 576p there are alternative options of 576i, 720i, 1080i and 1080p, what should I be n?
What does your TV support? I would suggest trying each of the settings and see what works.

the same DNS and gateway address 192.168.11
I am assuming that should read 192.168.1.1. If so the parameters look fine. I would try putting the box into standby and then turning off the mains power for 10 seconds before restarting. The Humax network stack sometimes gets into an odd state and a power cycle should sort it out.

The drive I took out of my humax is a Western Digital, so if I did need to replace it, would I be better off getting the same rather than the Seagate one?
I was talking about a 9200T which came as standard with a Seagate drive. There is nothing inherently wrong with western Digital drives; it is just that you need to find a drive which is acceptable to the 9300T and preferably which is optimised for PVR usage. What make and model of drive was fitted to your 9300T as standard?

After putting the temp drive in yesterday, I set it to record a couple of programmes in order to test it. It was working fine and playback seemed ok. I’ve just checked on it now and I noticed that the clock has lost 1 hour and it hasn’t recorded a programme I had set it to record this evening. I’d left it in standby overnight (which I don’t usually do – it’s usually just left on). Is there a reason it has failed to record?
I have never owned a 9300T so can’t be sure. On the 9200T I experimented with a Western Digital drive rather than the standard Seagate drive. It would record fine if it was on but wouldn’t reliably come out of standby. I put it down to the drive not being ready within the time window that the Humax expected (which would presumably be based on the time taken by the standard Seagate drive). Your problem sounds similar but hard to be sure.
