If I were you and needed to buy online I would buy a refurbished model from Humax themselves – their refurbished boxes look absolutely brand new and will have been checked for correct operation.
But is there any certainty that a refurbished unit will be the new model? My advice would be to buy on-line from a reputable company and if necessary use your right to send back within seven days.

Cheapest option mate is to buy a used PVR-9300T etc from fleabay.
Parts are available and they are an easy fix.
Should get change from £30 for a working box.
Slightly odd recommendation for someone with a satellite box and in my view the 9300T has enough problems (juddery playback on some program content; poor remote response if tuned to a full set of multiplexes) to be not a great option unless the budget is very tight.

It sounds like Martin is correct then. You may need to attenuate the input to the Humax.
I don’t believe I said that in this thread. If I am understanding correctly the signal as reported by the Humax is either 50-60% or 0%. That doesn’t sound like a situation where an attenuator will help. It sounds to me more like an iffy connection between the aerial socket and the tuner. Anntonella does anything change if you waggle the aerial socket on the Humax?

The TV repair man said that he thought that the Humax box could not cope with the number of new channels, he has seen that a few times apparently, but he had no solution to that, and it tuned OK when he was here.
With the greatest respect to the TV repair man, he is talking nonsense. The HDR-FOX T2 is perfectly capable of dealing with the current number of channels. Earlier Humax boxes, the 9200T for instance, do have problems. What is the signal strength and quality as reported by the Humax when tuned to BBC1?

Would deleting some of the channels help matters?
No. You need to do a manual retune to a single transmitter as Barry has suggested.

I replaced the disk and on startup it started Formatting it. How long should this take on a 500Gb disk?
What make and model was the replacement hard drive?

Purple means it is in Recording Standby mode. That is, it has woken up out of full standby ready to start recording a programme you have asked for it to record which may start a few minutes before (or after) the scheduled time as shown in the EPG so it needs to be ready 10/15 minutes beforehand.
So what colour is the light when it is actually recording?

I’m having severe problems with my box after retuning following an on-screen message stating that channels had moved and I needed to do so. I performed the retune on Tuesday evening (8th August) and all was fine that evening. An AutoUpdate was performed @ 4am the following morning since when all channels (worst BBC1 & 2) are pixelating badly with the addition of a signal booster – without the booster nothing works now,
There haven’t been any automatic updates for years although the check still happens but will do nothing. I think the most likely explanation is that something has changed in the aerial cabling. I suggest having a very careful check that everything is fully plugged in; connectors are properly attached to the cable; no kinks in the cable; no evidence of water ingress; no obvious damage to aerial.

noticed it first when i had ‘no signal or aerial disconnected’ message on Sky News. then realised this was affecting all ARQ-A channels.
i used the coverage predictor and where i live, should all be very good. most other muxes are coming though 100/100, although SDN only showing 70/100.
If by 100/100 you mean a 100% signal strength as reported by the Humax then the most likely explanation is that your signal strength is too high. As it is a communal aerial then the easiest fix would be to put a variable attenuator in the aerial cabling.

Are there any details anywhere about the differences between the code numbers 1~6 ?
There is no functional difference between the code numbers. They are provided to allow multiple Humax devices to co-exist without the remotes conflicting.

1. No these wont delete, they will remain until you delete them manually. If another episode is broadcast it will be recorded.
Are you sure they won’t be deleted? I thought the Humax boxes deleted them automatically after 13 weeks?

Apologies if this is too obvious, but have you tried removing the batteries from the remote for a few seconds?
Agreed, I also hold a key down to ensure the remote has completely lost power.

This may be a lo-tech approach, but as I have no idea what the custom firmware that grahamlthompson referred to is, it’s the easiest way I know.
There is no custom firmware for the FVP-4000T; Graham was talking about the HDR-FOX T2.

Time Humax did this for their flagship box. Of course it’s not 100% reliable but it works but so far it hasn’t failed to work. If the broadcasters changed the Station Identifier (SID) it would fail, but why would they ?
Doesn’t the FVP-4000T retain the greater part of the recording schedule with the latest firmware (https://myhumax.org/forum/topic/new-smart-auto-retune)?

It solved the problem straight away, presumably confirming that signal strength was the problem.
Good. Did you work out which transmitter you were receiving from (as too much signal from a transmitter 40km away sounds wrong)?
