I’ve been trying to FTP into the box from my Windows 10 laptop using WinSCP but I keep getting the following error:
“No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.Connection failed”.
What protocol are you using in WinSCP? I think the default is SFTP which won’t work, you need FTP. If that isn’t the problem then tell us what settings you are using please. Personally I use Filezilla with the following settings:
Protocol: FTP – file transfer protocol
Host: the IP address of the Aura
Port: 2323
Encryption: Only use plain FTP
Logon type: Normal:
user: aura
Password : box pin default 0000

My Fox T2 (yes I know) says disc full, and will not let me delete any files. I thought I could take the drive out and connect up to a PC running Ubuntu, then selectively delete some of files, until the Humax allows the drive to function normally.
Anyway is this possible, do you know ?
Is how ??
The fact that the HDR-FOX T2 won’t allow you to delete files suggests to me that the file system has become corrupt and is now read only. There are two ways to correct this:
1. There is custom firmware for the HDR-FOX T2 which sits alongside the standard Humax software and adds features. One of these is a utility to correct file system problems called fix-disk. The custom firmware can be obtained by going to https://wiki.hummy.tv/wiki/Main_Page and doing some reading. The items on “Installing the custom firmware” and the item on “Maintenance mode disk check (fix-disk)” are particularly relevant.
2. The other way is essentially what you were suggesting, remove the hard drive from the HDR_FOX T2, connect it to the Ubuntu computer with a SATA to USB adapter (NB it needs to be the type of adapter that comes with a 12V power supply for the hard drive, cheap ones will only have a 5V supply) and then run fsck; see https://www.tecmint.com/fsck-repair-file-system-errors-in-linux/
One other thought, the recordings on the hard drive will be owned by user “root” so you will need to use the su command to become the root user.

Sorry
No need to apologise.
It is a A650 series soundbar. The humax model is HDR-10035.
It looks that model is for The Australian market so as this forum is mainly UK based then we won’t have any experience with it. Perhaps somebody who knows more about soundbars here might have an idea though?

I’ve had the same problem as Wilfort. I checked the cables – all OK. I’ve tried to do a factory reset. When entering my postcode, I get a message saying “Invalid postcode. Please check your postcode.”
I would guess it is either a dish alignment problem or a faulty LNB.

ParticipantAs a last resort I did a factory reset, but this has not cured the stretch.
Have you tried turning off the electrical power to the Humax for 10s(rather than putting it into standby)?

Just wondering if a humax would cause issues with my soundbar/tv set-up. Every time I change channels are horrible popping noise occurs.
It is a new samsung tv and a 2 year old samsung soundbar. Have tried every avenue to fix it, even changing from hdmi to optical but it still happens. Wondering if the box is the cause? I have the soundbar connected to tv and not humax.
It might help those here who know about soundbars to answer your question if you tell us which model of Humax PVR you own?

Unable to get BBC HD, picture quality crap on most of others. My Fringe tester is showing virtually full signal strength. Should I ignore it? How do I position aerial to get best reception? This has been going on since I bought the unit. The signal and quality strength is very low on the test screen.
Which transmitter do you receive from and how far away is it? If you don’t know go to https://www.freeview.co.uk/freeview-channel-checker If you click the “Detailed transmitter view” this will give you the likely transmitter to use, distance and direction. What type of aerial do you have? I assume a Fringe tester is a signal meter of some sort? If it is showing a very high signal level have you considered the possibility that the signal is too high and is saturating the tuners? If that is the case then an attenuator in the aerial cabling would be the solution.

When I go into settings to test signal strength/quality it is virtually non existant and only one tuner is running. Does this sound right?
Tuners are only live when in use. If you start a recording on BBC1 and then switch the live channel to ITV you should then see two tuners in use. First thing to check is that all aerial cable connections are in good condition. Is the signal strength low on all channels? Try BBC1 SD, ITV1 SD, BBC1 HD, QVC SD (16), Sky Mix (11), Quset (12); (that should cover all the multiplex ).

This is a very basic question. I’m thinking of buying an Aura 1TB set top box to watch Freeview channels. I also have a subscription to Netflix and would like to access that via the box. I’ve seen various threads/online articles that say Netflix is not available on Aura.
As I understand, Aura comes with Android TV (based on Android 9?). Can you just not use the Netflix app or is that not available for that version of Android?
I guess the simple question is can you watch Netflix in some way?
It was certainly an issue that caused a lot of debate early in the life of the Aura and some solutions were forthcoming; however I am not sure if they are still valid. Possibly due to the rather ancient version Of Android TV that the Aura uses. The threads will still be available on this forum. Is there anyone here who is using Netfix on an Aura?

Stevenage….I think I’m on Cambridge, rather than London.
By Cambridge Transmitter, do you mean Sandy Heath? When were you last able to access ITV2/3/4 ? This link https://www.freeview.co.uk/corporate/platform-management/planned-engineering-works suggests that there may be engineering work going on at Sandy Heath which might explain your problem.

Coming up as scrambled, tonight! Has this box lost them?
Which transmitter do you receive from? If you don’t know which town are you in?

I’ve been trying to get this to work for a while and I’ve tried various different things, I honestly can’t remember what BUT I know I did something with DNLA? and changed some settings on the Humax so I could see it on my computer.
The closest I’ve got is being able to see preview images on the Humax ‘server’ in Windows Media Player but it won’t play them. I’ve installed some codec things but still no luck.
The problem you have is that HD recordings require the client to support the the DTCP-IP protocol which a PC does not. Some people have reported that an Amazon Firestick (not sure if it is true of all models) supports DTCP-IP. The VLC player has an option to record a stream but I don’t know if it is feasible to extract the recorded stream from the Firestick. Maybe find a place where Firestick experts hang out. Please let us know if you manage to make progress on this.

We have three Humax 9400T PVRs. Two of them have developed faults so that at random times they wipe everything except Channel numbers and previously recorded programmes from memory. First sign is that when I turn on the Display is obviously incorrect, then I see that the list of future recordings has been deleted together with any time related settings such as instant rewind or instant fast forward.
I know these PVRs are old (so are my wife and I combined age 158) but want to avoid the expense of replacement if there is some way of repairing.
Are you sure that they are 9400T which wasn’t sold in the UK? The 9300T is known to have a problem with losing the schedule of recordings which is stored in flash RAM; as Humax were never interested in fixing the problem, I have a suspicion that it is a hardware issue and probably only fixable with a new motherboard which I doubt are available. The recordings are stored on a conventional hard drive which is why they are not affected.

I will try that when I get a chance to have a look. It is still not recording, but then strangely it appears to have recorded one of the programmes I had set it for – so, who knows?! Think it was perhaps just a fluke!
I am afraid I don’t understand that either nor do I understand why “The only way I have found that it will record, is if I rewind live television and then press record.” works. Before formatting the drive it might be worth trying a reset to default settings which will delete the schedule for future recordings but not your current recordings.
I was just thinking, if I do end up having to buy a new machine, is there one would recommend – cos, as I said, I have had mine for quite a few years now.
The choice of PVRs is rapidly getting smaller. In my opinion your choice is between the Humax Aura which is what I am currently using (but beware it does have various quirks) and the Manhattan T4-R which has had its release date put back on numerous occasions and is currently scheduled for launch “early 2024”.

It looks like it is a 2000T, from the label at the back of the machine.
Thanks. I am puzzled by the “maximum number of files per folder was reached” as unlike the early models, the HDR-2000T uses a Linux file system and the limit will be much higher than on the earlier models. My best guess is that there is some corruption of the file system. There are two potential fixes:
Take the hard drive out of the HDR_2000T, attach it to a computer running Linux and use the Linux file system repair tools to fix the errors.
Watch or copy to USB storage, any important recordings and then format the hard drive. This can be done by the HDR-2000T but will permanently delete all recordings.
