Not a linux user, so can’t comment on that. I’m using win10. And copying across (I guess that would be using Samba), and simply changing the extension to .mp2 seems to let the audio play, at least in VLC and windows media player.
Why do you guess that it is using Samba? I would guess that it is using DLNA which would explain why transferred content has the encryption removed.

If I am watching the TV with settop box in standby mode every now and then the screen goes black and I get a message saying no signal have tried it with box turned on it does not seem to happen, same thing if I watch TV withbox in standby mode when the box reaches a scheduled recording the picture freezes, is this a fault or a setting that needs to be changed the odvious choice would be to watch through the box all of the time which I do not think is right, anyone out there to help.
Try turning off power saving in stand by on the Humax and also consider getting a screened HDMI cable.

You say “If the crid data is no longer available after the programme has started” but, if you look at the screen picture attached to my post #15 you will see that both ‘Series’ and ‘Programme’ CRIDs did exist as shown on the screen so are you saying that they were/are invalid after the program has started?
They are not invalid but for reasons I don’t understand, all the Humax boxes I have used don’t allow a Series Record to be set from a programme that is currently broadcasting. No harm in you asking Humax to improve the behaviour (from time to time long standing inconveniences do get fixed).

Apologies again, but maybe some of the thought we’ve given it may be useful to someone else later on.
Thanks for letting us know. As I said it was an odd problem and you found a solution so well done.

when I switch the TV off, recordings of ITV channels stops. When TV is switched on again, recording resumes. BBC channels work fine.
Note signal to TV aerial is not being passed through the FVP5000t, but is routed elsewhere.
That is an unusual problem and I am struggling to think of answer. Please can you explain how the signal is routed to the TV?

Following on from Martin’s post, out of interest I have just checked to see if my 5000T recordings (all HD) can be viewed on a HDR-FOX-T2 which does have a DTC-IP IP DLNA client.
What about the other way round (ie will the FVP play HD content from the HDR-FOX)?

How could 2 happen, there is a flag which prevents this.
I am guessing that it is being done via DLNA and the TV supports DTCP-IP (Digital Transmission Content Protection) which used to be quite rare but is becoming more common.

Sorry, I did indeed mean encrypted.
Is there any point installing Custom Firmware and trying Method 6* (recording decrypted by stream capture) as mentioned here

I would suggest popping over to hummy.tv and asking the question there as this Forum doesn’t like discussion about removal of encryption.

When this was happining to some of the BBC SD TV’s broadcasts in the first half of 2016 the conclusion was that it was by accident.
Yup. I think the way forward is for the OP to raise a complaint with the BBC via their web site.

Has anyone repaired the display or main mother board and can suggest likely components or tests to try?
You might want to explain what symptoms the box is exhibiting.

I am not familiar with this box, but I wonder if perhaps there is a battery somewhere within it which maintains certain settings when power is disconnected.
Simply answer, no.

Manual re-tune shows no signal on “frequency” 45, 55 & 56.
When manual tuning, did you change the “Transmission” type to DVB-T2 for the HD channels?

Why did the attachments not go through
Don’t know; hopefully a moderator will explain. What was the text in the message?

I tried to download the software and got this message after waiting foe about five minutes,This page isn’t working.uk.humaxdigital.com is currently unable to handle this request HTTP Error 500.
Just tried and it downloaded for me almost instantly. I suggest you try again; if not send me a PM with your emaill address and I will send it to you.
I see I need to to install it onto a USB pen but it needs to be in Fat32 format.
Correct. Be careful about formatting a USB stick under Windows 10 as I suspect it may use a GUID style partition table which won’t work on the Humax. I keep a small capacity old USB drive specifically for upgrades.
My box is not connected to the internet and have not got a long enough ethernet cable to reach from the router.
You could temporarily move the Humax to next to the router so you can use a short cable and leave it for a few hours.
