Martin, would just deleting all of the unused or little used channels work, or does a mux use a set amount of memory regardless of the number of channels?
My understanding (but it is a long time since I did this) is that the process only works if you delete everything and only tune in the required muxes.

Hello again, my machine is extremely slow to respond and regularly freezes. Will factory reset help?
Probably not. This is a known issue with the 9200T. The problem is that the number of available channels has increased since the box was designed and it is lacking in either RAM or CPU power to deal with them. The workaround is to do a manual tune using the Biggles instructions at http://myhumax.org/forum/topic/week-old-9300t-and-epg-wont-fill-up-for-week#post-7097 except that you only tune in three multiplexes. This will mean some channels are not available but should greatly improve the slow performance.

I had a FVP 4000T box which worked perfectly for nearly two years, however just before Christmas it would no longer stream live programs from the BBC Sports app.
Not something I have used before but just tried on my FVP-5000T and I see the same failure as you. If you aren’t getting anywhere with Humax then try raising it with the BBC; go to the BBC web site and search for complaints and fill in the on-line form. I think you stand a reasonable chance of at least getting a response and if they think there is a general problem with the FVP boxes then just possibly they may be able to apply pressure to Humax in a way that we as users can’t.

…and also the end of last night’s University Challenge.
Yes I noticed that (on an FVP-5000T Freeview). So the conclusion seems to be that there is nothing wrong at your end and the problem is at the broadcaster end. The BBC used to be the gold standard for accurate recording but my impression is that since they implemented a new system things haven’t been as good. If you go the BBC web site you should be able to find a complaints submission URL; fill in the details you have supplied and wait a week or two and you at least have a chance of getting a sensible reply.

This has only recently started to happen, missing the last minute or so of recorded shows.
Please could you quote a few examples of specific programmes that stopped too soon (Programme name, channel, date and time)?

Subtitles are marked ‘Off’ on the system.
It is a software bug which I see quite frequently and have done since I purchased my FVP.

There are no ‘settings’ as such, can’t find an option for subtitles anywhere within the menu options ????
Try MENU button>Preferences>Language Setting>Subtitle

There is no way to change the screen aspect ratio only change the way that source content not having a 16:9 frame aspect ratio is mapped to the screen.
On a 9300T under Preferences>A/V control you can set the screen ratio to be 4:3 or 16:9. I suspect this setting is wrong on the OPs box.

I’ve been talking to Humax since last March (18) had a new 4000 then a 5000 supplied by Humax but the loss of historical EPG and greyed out players has been a continual issue.
The catch up function and past epg usually lasts for 2 days then the dreaded “No information ” appears. My “best” solution is a hard mains off reset every 2 days !!!
How is the Humax connected to the Internet?

when I try to make a transfer using humax 1.15-win32 I enter ‘x’ for file transfer then ‘a’ to tranfer a video it comes up with ‘error retrieving host directory contents for ‘C:humax videos’!
However if ‘L’ is entered in place of ‘x’ it displays the file list
Can I confirm, are you using humaxrw? Are you trying to tansfer a file from the Humax to the PC or PC to Humax? Where are you getting ‘a’ to transfer a video from?

It is not as if I have signal problems – 85% strength and 100% quality, rock solid.
I agree your signal strength and quality are fine. the other variable is whether the box is tuned to multiplexes from a single transmitter; I don’t know for sure how the FVP boxes behave when not correctly tuned but the earlier Humax boxes behave in the way you describe.

Thought I may be a bit optimistic that there was a quick fix ????
If there is a quick fix I would love to know what it is.

However when I go into the list of recordings the system defaults the the cursor being in the second recording. On occasions this ya resulted in me skipping an episode or deleting an unwatched recording. Any thoughts?
This is to my mind one of a number of examples of the user interface being poorly designed. I don’t know of a work around but with time you learn to be more careful about selecting the correct episode.

I’m loosing confidence in this box already, anyone else got anything I can try before it goes back
:
In my view you have got a duff box and sending it back is the correct thing to do but one in good health does perform quite reasonably.

However I discovered that by re-booting the router (Draytek 2760) while the FVP is powered on and showing TV the problem is fixed. It takes about 3 minutes to reboot the router and re-establish internet connections.
How is the FVP connected to the router?
Also interesting if Humax view this forum and can comment.
As far as I know they don’t monitor any forum.
