my gf says its both …. although it seems to me its live …. and no she doesn’t have it connected to the internet.

I think this is a known bug for which Humax have recently issued a fix but the only way to get the fix is to be connected to the Internet. The instructions from Humax are as follows:

“The update is being rolled out automatically to all boxes as users continue to use their devices normally.

However, if you find that your unit still retains the old version of the app, we kindly ask you to follow the steps outlined below for a manual update:

Turn on your set-top box and watch live TV for 1 minute.

Place the set-top box into standby mode for 1 minute.

Turn on your set-top box again and watch live TV for 5 minutes.

Place the set-top box into standby mode once more, this time for 2 minutes.

Check the version name in Settings > Apps > See all apps > Show system apps > “Freeview”

(Please note: This should not be confused with Freeview TV, which should display as “1.00_62_240210″).”

Once you have the update you can disconnect from the Internet if desired.

Its good (the old one was on the way out), but – i’m having problems with the HDMI cable. The TV blacks out and stops for a second or two, not much, but obviously it is a bother.

Are the blackouts on ITV when watching live (rather than a recording)? Is the box connected to the Internet?

    A) thanks.. I wasn’t sure if it was via settings or you could see it at the bottom of the screen while watching TV somehow

So what are the readings of signal strength and Quality from the Aura?

    B) I mean that plugging the cable directly into the TV, it has its own built in tuner. This receives all expected channels but shows a signal strength bar briefly every time you change channel and the strength is indicated as weak. So I know signal strength is not great, but oddly the TVs built in tuner is doing a better job than the Aura

Not necessarily odd, the Aura was designed post DSO when the power of transmitters was increased and so has weaker tuners than previous Humax recorders.

Try going to https://www.freeview.co.uk/freeview-channel-checker and see how many channels it predicts for your location.

I’m a techy guy but don’t know much about how TV channels work.

First thing to tell us is the signal strength and quality as reported by the Aura on one of the channels it can find.

I can find the menu dedicated to signal strength, is it that or can I somehow see information while watching?

Sorry I am struggling to understand what you are saying; do you mean you can’t find the menu, if so go into settings, first item is Channel & Broadcast and in that section Signal Test will give you the information I asked for. Note that as you can only tune one multiplex only readings for one tuner will be shown.

But the signal IS weak I can see that from its own tuner display

Again I struggle to understand; what “own tuner display” are you talking about please?

Is this normal or am I missing something?

Have you paired the remote with the TV?

Hi my Aura app keeps losing connection function, and i have realised the Aura not and then changes its IP address. is there any way of setting the Aura so that it has the same IP address all the time please?

It might be better if you set a fixed IP address in your router (assuming it has that capability).

It looks like NextPVR on Windows 10 does it though I haven’t tried it yet. See How to use NextPVR on Windows 10 to watch and record TV

Having read that article, I don’t see any reference to being able to record streams; also you will have to buy HDHomerun tuners to get it to do anything and they aren’t cheap. Let us know how you get on.

And yes, Dropbox will not disappear in 30 days.

jdlfreetime’s will I suspect cease to function after 30 days as he probably took a trial version of one of the plans that has a cost attached. I agree that the basic plan should survive, although Dropbox will try and persuade you to move to a version that makes the money.

Is it possible to add two RM-C01 remotes connected as Bluetooth devices to my Humax Aura FVP-4KGTR?

Please could you explain why you want to connect two remotes? I certainly don’t know the answer but it sounds as though it might be possible. Perhaps someone else here knows?

The dropbox free access only lasts 30 days, so if anyone wants to copy file, it should hopefully be there.

My free Dropbox has been in use for years. If you register at https://www.dropbox.com/en_GB/basic then I think there is no 30 day limit but limit of 2GB of stored data.

I would gladly provide a copy of the Humax Foxsat HDR 1.00.21 Firmware. I have kept a copy of the original last firmware version from many years ago. Used to be easy to access. Do you know how I can upload it to the My Humax forum, so others can also access a copy if needed?

Hopefully a moderator will see this post and find a way to host the firmware. Alternatively if you have a Dropbox account (I use the free version), you could copy it into a folder and post a link here.

When on the radio ( bbc only) there is no tuner strength. Other radio stations are good signal.

I have tired a rescan to no avail

I have made sure the f connections are ok

I cannot understand why the tuner is ok for tv and not for selected radio stations

Could it be an LNB problem?

My question is, does this mean that the disc is on the way out, and if so what is a suitable replacement?

Assuming this is a one off event, I don’t think it is obviously hard drive related. If you want to know the state of the hard drive then the best way to do it is to remove the hard drive, connect it to a computer possibly by a SATA to USB converter and look at the SMART data which holds the drives record of problems. Looking at SMART data the first time is not easy but I or someone else here would be able to help you interpret it.

A subsidiary, less important quest – at the end of all this, when I switched back to the TV there was no sound until I switched chanel. Does anyone know why this might be?

I don’t know but I don’t think it is significant, odd tings happen with PVRs sometimes.
